About the Search and Screen Process

The selection process for our new chancellor is defined by UW System Board of Regents Policy 6-4. Under this policy, two committees have oversight over the process, the Search and Screen Committee and the Special Regents Committee. The Search and Screen is composed of five Regents, two faculty, one staff, one student, and one community/alumni representative (see list of members below). Collectively, our goal is the find the candidate for our campus by following these steps this spring:

Step 1: Position description/profile

Step 2: Review candidates and select semi-finalists

  • Confidential review by Search and Screen Committee (late March-early April)
  • Selection of confidential semi-finalists (April 5)

Step 3: Select finalists

  • Confidential interviews of semi-finalists (April 26-28)
  • Confidential review by Search and Screen Committee (April 28)
  • Selection of finalists by Special Regents Committee (April 28-29)
  • Finalists publicly announced (week of April 29)

Step 4: Review of finalists

  • On-campus visits (week of May 6)
  • Selection of finalist by Special Regents Committee and System President (week of May 20)
  • New chancellor announced (week of May 20)

Serving on the Search and Screen Committee are:

  • Chair: Regent Tracey L. Klein
  • Vice chair: Eric Compas, Associate Professor and Director, GIS Center (faculty)
  • Kelly Davis, Vice President of the Whitewater Unified School District Board and Community Relations Program Manager with Generac Power Systems, Inc. (community member)
