Spanish Student Organizations

Spanish conversation and cultural interaction opportunities.

These groups focus on bilingual and cultural interaction.  Use of Spanish varies by group:

• Spanish Club
• Latinos Unidos
• International Student Association
• Sigma Delta Pi (Spanish Honor Society)
• Admira La Música de Las Americas (ALMA, Latin Dance Organization)

Greek Organizations with a Latino/Hispanic Focus. For opportunities to socialize with others interested in things Latino or Hispanic:

• Latino American Unida, Lambda Alpha Upsilon Fraternity, Inc.
• Omega Pi Lambda Sorority, Inc. (Latine Interest)
• Zeta Sigma Chi Multicultural Sorority. Inc.

Social Justice and Community Service

These organizations work with the local and/or global Latino/Hispanic community to provide assistance to those in need and may offer opportunities to communicate in Spanish with international/Latino/Hispanic partners:

• Service learning through Spanish courses (ask your professor about these opportunities)
• Empower (working in partnership with KEVA)
• Working for Whitewater's Wellness (W3) - via Americorps/Ambrose Health Center
• Fast Friend Program (LINCS Elementary School).  Similar to Big Brother/Big Sister, but with a Latino/Hispanic child.  Contact Shirley Cutshall, Guidance Counselor at LINCS.
