Admission Requirements

If you meet the admission requirements, you can declare a business major at any point in your studies. The minimum combined Grade Point Average (GPA) requirement is dependent on the amount of credits you have earned.  The GPA requirements are:

  • 2.0 combined GPA if you have less than 24 credits
  • 2.5 combined GPA if you have 24 to 72 credits
  • 2.8 combined GPA if you have more than 72 credits

If your GPA does not meet these requirements and you have not taken college courses in the last five years, you may qualify for forgiveness.  Please contact the Online BBA program coordinator for details on the forgiveness policy.  

Application Deadlines

Applications are accepted on a rolling admission basis.  You can begin in the fall, spring or summer semester.  Fall semester begins early September; spring semester begins mid-January; and summer semester begins late May.  Your application should be submitted at least two months in advance of your intended start date.

Before You Apply

To ensure you meet the admission requirements, it is best to contact the Online BBA program coordinator before applying for admission. The program coordinator can review your previous credits for potential transfer credits and guide you in the right direction before going through the admission process.

Transferring to the ONLINE BBA

If you have previous credits from another college and/or university, you may be eligible for transfer credit towards the BBA degree requirements. All credits will be reviewed for transfer to UW-Whitewater if the courses were completed at a regionally-accredited college or university.

Transfer guides are available for students transferring from the following colleges. These transfer guides are a tool for you to use if you plan to complete freshman and sophomore level courses at a transfer institution before beginning the Online BBA program.

You also have the option to use the Wisconsin Transfer Information System to conduct a self-review of potential transfer credit. This tool will assist you in seeing how your previous college coursework from another UW-System campus or Wisconsin Technical College may transfer to UW-Whitewater.

For a review of possible transfer credit, you can send unofficial transcripts to the Online BBA program coordinator,  who can review your previous credits for an estimate on how they will transfer towards the BBA online degree requirements.

Apply Online

  1. Complete the University of Wisconsin online application
  2. Submit $44 application fee (no application fee for students transferring directly from a 2-year UW system college)
  3. Submit final high school transcript/GED/HSED
  4. Submit official transcripts from all colleges and/or universities ever attended
  5. If military experience, submit copy of DD214 or military SMART transcript (to be awarded credit for military experience).

All transcripts must come directly from the institution. Please do not submit documents until after you have completed an application.  

Apply for Financial Aid

UW-Whitewater students may apply for financial aid in the form of grants, loans, scholarships, or employment.  All of these make up a "Financial Aid Package" and may be offered singly or in various combinations.  Since funds are limited, priority for aid is based on financial need and how promptly applications are filed. 

After You Apply

Shortly after submitting an application, an e-mail will be forwarded with instructions that allows you to follow the progress of your application online. Please be patient as it can take a couple of days for the receipt of documentation to be recorded. We make every attempt to record the information as quickly as possible. The online WINS access is a great tool to keep track of what's missing to complete your application.
