Policy for Admission to Upper Division COMDIS Courses

  1. Admission by cohort, limited to acceptance of 30 students per academic year with formal admission in the Fall Semester of each academic year.
  2. Application for admission allowed during semester of completion of a minimum of 45 credits (for most students this will be at the end of their first semester, Sophomore year).
  3. Completion of a Physics course (130, 212, or 240) with a minimum grade of C- and completion of a Biology course with a minimum grade of C-. One of these two courses must be designated as a lab course.
  4. Completion of COMDIS 270.
  5. A minimum combined cumulative GPA of 2.75
  6. An average GPA of 3.0 at least in the following courses:
    • COMDIS 278 Anatomy & Physiology of Human Communication
    • COMDIS 272 Phonetics and Its Related Processes
    • COMDIS 240 Hearing and Speech Science

*Meeting all minimum requirements does not guarantee admittance to upper division courses. When all admittance criteria are met by the applicant, the combined GPA will serve as the determining factor for admission to the upper division COMDIS courses in terms of filling the limit of 30 students being enrolled per year.
