Instructors

The instructor serves an important role in program success. The instructor is responsible for teaching, evaluating, and supporting LIFE students across a variety of settings and contexts. Emphasis is on the development and delivery of meaningful educational lessons and activities, frequent monitoring of student progress, and assisting students during all daytime aspects of their college experience.

Independent Living Assistants

The independent living assistant (ILA) serves an important role in program success and shares many of the same responsibilities as a traditional campus resident assistant, but with additional supportive duties. The ILA is responsible for supporting LIFE students in a residence hall during non-academic times, in the mornings before class, evenings after class, and during some time on the weekend. Emphasis is on helping students with tasks of daily living, promoting independence, providing mentoring, facilitating social and leisure opportunities, and helping students acclimate to campus life.

The peer coach serves an important role in the advanced program’s success. The peer coach is responsible for supporting students on the job site, in the classroom, and at their apartments. Emphasis is on helping students with tasks of daily living and employment, promoting independence, and providing mentoring as students move from the classroom to a more community-focused program.

Social Work Intern

The social work intern is responsible for connecting our students with resources on campus and in the wider community. Emphasis is on interagency collaboration with community and campus partners, addressing the social and emotional needs of the students, and providing case management during transition for our graduating students.
