Christine knew that she wanted a career path at a university, and understood that a master’s degree was the next step forward for her. As a UW-Whitewater undergraduate, she had the opportunity to work with Associate Professor Kristina Navarro through the Undergraduate Research Program researching the feasibility of adding an Athletic Administration specialty to the MSE-PD HELEAD program. When it came time to make her decision regarding which graduate school to attend, Christine had an intense perspective of what made MSE-PD HELEAD Athletic Administration at UW-Whitewater so unique, and knew this was the right fit for her.
When discussing the program, Christine stressed how important the professors and instructors were to her success, “Not only are they skilled in teaching, but they are leaders in their fields. Throughout the program you really get to know them and build a relationship with them. Having this network and support system is key when entering into the professional world.”
Christine had the opportunity to work as a Graduate Assistant in the College of Education and Professional Studies. Christine said, “The Graduate Assistant position was so important to my education; it gave me hands on experience that worked in tandem with the classroom learning.”
Christine currently works as the Development Coordinator for Athletics at UW Madison. “The program really helped prepare me for the work that I am doing. I have immediately utilized knowledge and skills gained in the program and applied them to my job.”
Christine adds, “UW-Whitewater has a special place in my heart. It was a great education, a great experience, and I gained really wonderful mentors throughout my journey.”
