Graduate Plan


Professional Development (PD) 36 credits - Online Master's Degree in Special Education

You can earn a master’s degree- fully online with three specialist certificates as part of the degree. Students must maintain a GPA of at least 3.0 with grades of C or better in each course. Here is a program rotation for students who are interested in completing very quickly. Of course, coursework could be extended. Students have up to seven years to complete.

Summer

  • SPECED 709 Principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (for ABA and masters)
  • SPECED 707 Foundations of Autism (for autism and masters)
  • SPECED 708 Methods of Autism (for Autism, ABA, and masters)

Fall

  • SPECED 640- Advanced Behavior Management (for ABA and masters)
  • SPECED 702 Reflective Practice and Action Research (for transition, autism, and masters)

Spring

  • SPECED 701 Advanced Methods- Focus on Single Subject Design  (for ABA and masters)
  • SPECED 703 Collaborative Leadership (for transition and masters)
  • SPECED 704 Applied Action Research (for transition, autism, and masters)

Summer

  • SPECED 706 (for transition and masters)
  • SPECED 781 (for transition and masters)
  • SPECED 710- Advanced Applications of ABA  (for ABA and masters)
  • SPECED 711 3 credits Ethical Practice in ABA (for ABA and masters)

 

In the Action Research sequence, you design a project to make change in your work setting. This project is centered on one of your certificate areas. Your project is approved through the Internal Review Board at UWW. You receive one-to-one faculty support to carry out your project during the Applied Action Research independent study class.

CROSS CATEGORICAL (CC) LICENSURE COURSEWORK - 36 CREDITS

Students pursuing first licensure must:

  • Complete the Phase 1 meeting and Phase 2 portfolio evaluation by taking the EDFOUND 210 course
  • Have a 2.75 GPA (also required of Graduate School)
  • Have the equivalent of a 3 credit Child Development or Child Psychology in undergraduate coursework
  • There may be additional undergraduate coursework as required by DPI - your advisor will help review your transcripts
