ATTENTION:

The College of Integrated Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater at Rock County seeks an Engineering Program Instructor/Advisor (Lecturer).

The College of Integrated Studies and the collaborative engineering program are housed at the UW-Whitewater at Rock County branch campus in Janesville, WI.
    
JOB DETAILS:

This full-time position provides instruction, lab support, community outreach, advising, and program coordination for Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Studies in the UW-Platteville Partners in Engineering Program through UW-Whitewater at Rock County.

UW-Whitewater’s College of Integrated Studies offers unique ways of obtaining an engineering degree.  Students have the option to complete a four-year engineering degree from UW-Platteville in partnership with UW-Whitewater while staying at the Rock County Campus. Another option for students is to complete a two-year pre-engineering program and transfer to a four-year engineering institution. Finally, students have the option to obtain a dual degree in Physics and Engineering through the UW-Whitewater Physics department and UW-Platteville, UW-Milwaukee or UW- Madison.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Engineering
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ability to teach with an emphasis on promoting the success of undergraduate students
  • Ability to serve as an active member of the university and link to surrounding communities
  • Willingness and ability to be an active participant in following applicable safety rules and regulations including necessary training and drills
  • Ability to interact respectfully with people from diverse socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds
RESPONSIBILITIES:    

30%   A. Teach Introductory Engineering Courses (Potential Courses)
  1. EGR 105: Engineering Fundamentals
  2. EGR 282 Engineering Economic Analysis
  3. Circuit Modeling I & II (To be developed) 
30 %   B. Offer lab assistance and learning support
  1. Be available to assist students with completion of labs and lab set up
  2. Office hours to include in the late afternoon/evening for tutoring assistance
20%   C. Advise Students
  1. Advise pre-engineering and engineering students of EGR program requirements
  2. Advise students re UW-Platteville, and cooperating university course sequences and selection  
  3. Assist students with career planning and internship opportunities
  4. Help build a positive community of engagement for students in the program
20%   D. Program Coordination
  1. Maintain timely communication and advise planning between cooperating campuses
  2. Serve to enrich and grow the program as a liaison/outreach advocate in the southern WI region
