ATTENTION:

The Department of Psychology in the College of Letters and Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater is seeking multiple part-time instructors to teach graduate courses in the School Psychology Program. 

Academic staff positions are provided fixed term appointments with potential for annual renewal. Reappointment for subsequent terms is dependent upon performance, university funding, and external forces.

JOB DETAILS:

The positions will include teaching 1-3 courses per semester in the graduate program. Courses include Foundations of School Psychology (Fall 2022), Advanced Child Development (Spring 2023), and supervision of Practicum and Internship each semester. Opportunities to supervise specialist project research are also available. We have a number of graduate assistants available to support instruction in courses. The successful candidate will have applied experience practicing with children from which to support students’ learning.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ed.S., ABD, or Ph.D. in School Psychology, Child Development, or closely related field.
  • Full-time experience as a school psychologist, National Certification as a School Psychologist (NCSP), and/or licensure (or license eligible) in Wisconsin are required for Practicum and Internship supervision.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Teaching responsibilities involve 3 graduate credits per course taught; opportunities are available to teach from 1-3 courses per semester. Supervision requires coordination with practicum and internship sites as well as classroom experience.

DEPARTMENT INFORMATION:

The UW-Whitewater Department of Psychology offers undergraduates the BA, BS, and BSE and comprehensive exposure to the prominent theories and concepts of psychology, the techniques and results of psychological research, and the applications of psychological knowledge to everyday situations. Field and research experiences allow students to apply acquired skills and knowledge. We strive to create a student-focused environment with faculty who are known for excellence in teaching and advising. The School Psychology Program is housed within the Psychology Department with graduate students in a cohort model. The School Psychology Program grants the Education Specialist degree, is approved by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI), and is accredited by the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP).
