ATTENTION:

The Department of University Health & Counseling Services seeks an Associate Student Services Coordinator (Wellness Educator).

JOB DETAILS:

This 12 month, full time position is responsible for the development, coordination, implementation and evaluation of a broad array of wellness programs and data driven measures to support student learning and the academic mission. The Wellness Educator will advocate for a shared health promotion vision with students, recognizing cultural, social justice and student health issues, using theoretical frameworks and evidence based and data driven approaches. QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (master’s degree preferred) in health promotion, public health or a health-related field
  • Previous experience in health education required
Desired Qualifications:
  • Work experience in higher education preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Strong written and oral communications skills
  • Ability to interact respectfully with people from diverse socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
  • Willingness and ability to be an active participant in following applicable safety rules and regulations, including necessary training and drills.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

Wellness Education
  1. Provide health education to students and their touchpoints with a focus on diversity, student success and belonging, and Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse as dictated by the Coordinator.
  2. Facilitate wellness programming using current multimedia design and delivery resources, including administration of newsletters and social media resources.
  3. Present educational and prevention programs for students and other special audiences as directed by the Wellness Coordinator.
  4. Contribute as a member of campus wide committees, teams and coalitions and actively participate in research, professional writing, publications and/or presentations.
  5. Assist with student research needs, wellness programs and materials, and data driven measures to demonstrate how student contact contributes to student success and retention.
  6. Manage Wellness content on the UHCS website and Wellness social media sites.
  7. Promote good campus and student relations and market the services and programs of UHCS.
  8. Assume other responsibilities as directed by Wellness Coordinator of UHCS.
  9. Coordinate and advise the peer health educator group.
  10. Supervise wellness interns.
  11. Willingness and ability to be an active participant in following applicable safety rules and regulations including necessary training and drills.
  12. Ability to interact respectfully with people from diverse socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) Education
  1. Provide proactive programing and education for the campus related to AOD.
  2. Coordinate and advise students and peer educators regarding AOD.
  3. Provide training for Resident Assistants, Peer Mentors and others related to AOD.
  4. Assist with AODA administration of the biannual UW System, including the AODA review.
  5. Serve as campus representative to UW System AODA and coordination groups.
  6. Monitor AODA and other budget areas overseen by Coordinator.
Supervision received:
Supervision is received from the Wellness Coordinator.
