ATTENTION:

The Department of Instructional Communication and Information Technology (iCIT) seeks a Senior Information Systems Specialist (Business Intelligence Developer).

JOB DETAILS:

Reporting to the Director of Applications Development, the Business Intelligence Developer will be responsible for creating, programing, maintaining and supporting the BI applications used on campus as well as documenting functional and technical requirements used to translate business requirements into reporting solutions.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Five (5) years of experience with business intelligence concepts working with BI products (e.g., Oracle, Tableau, Business Objects, etc.)
Desired Qualifications:
  • Strong background in developing complex SQL inquiries.
  • Experience with BI tool modeling layers including presentation, logical and physical mapping data elements from various data sources.
  • Experience loading data warehouse objects including dimensions, hierarchies, fact tables, aggregates.
  • Experience in designing, building, implementing, and deploying data universes/data models against Oracle and SQL Server databases.
  • Experience with establishing the reporting framework and supporting the self-service reporting capability.
  • Demonstrated experience in designing, building, implementing, and deploying enterprise reports, analytics, and dashboards.
  • Excellent problem solving/analytical skills with high level of accuracy.
  • Previous experience with OBIEE Answers & Dashboards, and BI Publisher (11g or above)
  • Previous experience with ETL tools (Informatica).
  • Experience in writing custom Java/Javascript code or XML, and XSL for advanced report features to customize OBIEE functionality.
  • Experience in higher education environment, especially working with student and staff.
  • Experience with PeopleSoft ERP's (Campus Solutions)
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Ability to extrapolate business requirements, practices, and procedures into design specifications.
  • Ability to design reports in a logical, user friendly, and easy to understand format.
  • Knowledge of Oracle database management systems principles, techniques and capabilities.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Design/build OBIEE reports and dashboards using Answers and Dashboards, BI Publisher.
  2. Work closely to the ETL/Data Warehouse Specialist to design/develop the OBIEE repository.
  3. Define methods to successfully migrate legacy reporting business logic from Hyperion or other existing tool into OBIEE.
  4. Model, configure and optimize the RPD from Data Warehouse and databases.
  5. Develop, implement, and analyze data cubes, building dimensions as well as calculating data with aggregation techniques.
  6. Design, develop, and document OBIEE repository/metadata.
  7. Apply knowledge of custom database tables to design BI data models by developing simple to complex SQL queries.
  8. Translate business requirements and knowledge of data warehouse into modeling the physical layer, business layer and presentation layers.
  9. Follow university change control procedures and perform deployment of BI artifacts.
  10. Provide technical assistance and cross training to other team members as required.
  11. Design and implement best practices, guidelines and repeatable processes.
  12. Working in a team environment to develop reports and/or dashboards while working as a team member on an assigned project.
  13. Perform unit, system and integration testing.
  14. Maintain established standards throughout the process.
  15. Provide design and development mentorship/cross-training with fellow team members.
  16. Capable of guiding developers in order to troubleshoot issues with data modeling, RPD’s, reports, and answers/dashboards.
  17. Deliver solid, scalable, robust BI reporting/analytic solutions.
  18. Assists in OBIEE administration, system maintenance, security and upgrades.
  19. Prepare estimates of time for design and development.
  20. Willingness and ability to be an active participant in following applicable safety rules and regulations including necessary training and skills.
  21. Ability to interact respectfully with people from diverse socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
  22. Other duties as assigned
