ATTENTION:

The Departments of University Bookstore & Textbook Rental at the University of Wisconsin - Whitewater seeks an Associate Director Bookstore Services (Student Services Program Manager I).
    
JOB DETAILS:

Associate Director Position manages the merchandise and gift purchasing for the University Bookstore and UW-Whitewater and UW-Whitewater at Rock County. This position works closely with vendors and staff to ensure proper inventory levels and manages the merchandising of the sales-floor.
    
QUALIFICATIONS:    

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 1-2 years of purchasing and merchandising experience
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Willingness and ability to be an active participant in following applicable safety rules and regulations including necessary training and drills
  • Ability to interact respectfully with people from diverse socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assumes the responsibility for purchasing apparel, gifts, and related merchandise for the Whitewater and Rock County Bookstore locations
  • Develops a purchasing budget with the Director of Bookstore Services for apparel, gifts, and related merchandise and maintains oversight over that purchasing budget
  • Develops and maintains strong relationships with vendors. Schedules regular vendor meetings and attends tradeshows
  • Oversees the merchandising of the sales floor and trains student workers on proper merchandising standards and procedures
  • Ensures proper and accurate inventory levels of merchandise throughout the year. Maintain accurate reporting/records of sales figures and inventory levels.
  • Responsible for entering purchasing orders, invoicing, and timely payment of orders
  • Develops and maintains strong relationships with campus departments, student organizations, and community partners
  • Co-ordinate special events with the Marketing/Graphic Design Coordinator such as student events, promotional sales, community collaborations etc.
  • Develop/Maintain operational knowledge of store systems including: point of sale system, inventory system, website, and textbook rental system
  • Provide assistance and support to UW-Whitewater Textbook Rental system
  • Ensure Bookstore merchandise conforms to UW-Whitewater identity standards and maintain a strong collaborative working relationship with University Marketing and Communications
  • Complete other duties and tasks as assigned by the Director, Bookstore Services

  • General Supervision is received from the Director, Bookstore Services.
Supervision Exercised:
  • Supervision exercised over University Staff, student employees, and interns.
