ATTENTION:

The ICIT department at the University of Wisconsin - Whitewater seeks a Manager of Administrative Information Systems (Sr. Information Tech Strategic Consultant S40BN).

JOB DETAILS:

The AIS Manager is responsible for the full software portfolio of administrative systems and application ar UW-Whitewater. Reporting to the CIO, the AIS Manager provides leadership, management and guidance to the application development and support, business intelligence and project management teams. This includes planning, coordination and execution of all activities related to the development, implementation, upgrade, and support of the university’s ERP and departmental systems and applications. Person in this position develops and manages integration architecture strategy and standards; manages planning and execution of complex information technology projects, and fosters project management methodology and culture on campus, as well as leads the development of data governance culture and BI initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Five years of experience with installing and maintaining state-of-the-art ERP systems or other large information technology applications
  • Five years of experience with business process analysis and system integration frameworks and architectures, including process definition, project and application scope definition, business requirements gathering and specification and unit or program specifications
  • Five years of experience with project management methodologies and project planning. Three years of experience supervising/managing technical and /or application information systems personnel
  • Three years of experience supervising/managing technical and /or application information systems personnel
Desired Qualifications
  • Knowledge of all aspects of ERP technology infrastructure, including authentication methodology, integration platform and BI tools
  • Knowledge of application development practices, including data modeling, web and object-oriented programming practices, technical and environmental requirements specification and the systems development lifecycle and change management
  • Experience with Agile Project Management methodology
  • Bachelor’s degree

RESPONSIBILITIES:

30% A. Leadership and Management Responsibilities

A1. Set objectives and standards for employee performance, develop performance benchmarks and conduct performance reviews based on these objectives and benchmarks.

A2. Assure that staff responsibilities are aligned with the organizational goals, review and update position descriptions as necessary, recommend reclassifications as needed. Conduct recruitment and hiring processes.

A3. Engage staff in metrics-driven process improvement, assure quality of delivered products to foster integrity and reliability of enterprise applications.

A4. Build and develop a customer oriented, positive team environment to foster organizational goals. Encourage and promote successful working relationships among staff. Serve in the role of relationship manager between teams and core customers.

A5. Facilitate appropriate training/staff development.

15% B. Application Development Team Management Responsibilities

B1. Provide strategic direction and management to the Application Development Team. Allocate resources and oversee team activities, including assigning and monitoring of work, in keeping with organizational and project goals.

B2. Ensure that proper software lifecycle management process and practices are in place and followed, and that proper documentation is maintained.

B3. Lead large cross-functional projects, such as PeopleSoft release upgrades. Work with functional managers to negotiate scheduling and time commitment of resources to ensure timely completion of project deliverables with minimal disruption to ongoing operations.

B4. Establish and execute communication plans to effectively convey project expectations to team members and stakeholders; develop and deliver progress reports, manage client expectations.

B5. Lead efforts in leveraging vendor-delivered functionality and reduction of customizations.

B6. Assist with translating business requirements into technical solutions as needed.

15% C. Database Administration / System Administration Team Management Responsibilities

C1. Provide strategic direction and management to the DBA and Sytem Admin team. Allocate resources and oversee team activities including assigning and monitoring of work. Assure that technology solutions proposed by the team are aligned with the organizational goals, as established by the CTO.

C2. Develop integration architecture strategy and plans for adoption.

C3. In partnership with the CIO and CTO, set and maintain application and integration architecture strategy, ensures all development work meets standards and identifies roadmap to align architecture with strategic goals while creating a reliable, sustainable environment.

15% D. Business Intelligence Leadership Responsibilities

D1. Develop data governance culture and framework.

D2. Work with functional areas to understand data reporting and business analytics needs.

D3. Lead development of data warehouse and business analytics platform to support operational and strategic data needs of the university.

D4. Provide direction and management to the Business Intelligence team to assure that the goals of BI initiatives are being met.

D5. Represent UWW interests on various governance groups at UW level.

15% E. Project Management and Business Analyst Team Management Responsibilities

E1. Provide strategic direction and management to the PMO and BA Team. Allocate resources and oversee team activities including assigning and monitoring of work. Assure that technology solutions are aligned with the organizational goals, as established by the CTO.

E2. Assure up-to-date software inventory portfolio, including information about data classification, data access, and data domains.

E3. Assure secure data access practices for the entire software portfolio.

E4. In partnership with the CTO, oversee timely software upgrades.

E5. In partnership with customers and CTO, identify and maintain software roadmap for enterprise and departmental software that integrates with the core enterprise applications.

10% F. Strategic Technology Leadership and Planning Responsibilities

F1. Stay abreast of technology trends, product developments, and solutions adapted by other higher education organizations.

F2. Interact with sponsors and stakeholders from multiple constituencies to identify strategic initiatives and business process reengineering opportunities.

F3. Work with technology vendors to identify appropriate solutions, articulate University requirements (including RFPs) conduct product evaluation, coordinate relationships to ensure appropriate service levels.

F4. Provide consultation to customers regarding the appropriate technology solutions for their business needs.
