ATTENTION:
The College of Business and Economics at the University of Wisconsin - Whitewater seeks an Assistant Dean for Student Success and Academic Services (Assistant Dean (B)).
This is an internal posting for current UW-Whitewater employees. JOB DETAILS:
This position reports directly to the Dean in the College of Business and Economics. The key responsibilities of this 12-month position are to lead and manage all college student success initiatives and oversee college academic services. The Assistant Dean oversees college DEIB initiatives and collaborates with other units on campus to attract, recruit, support, and retain URM students. The Assistant Dean for Student Success and Academic Services works with other CoBE leadership to identify future strategic actions that will attract future students and increase student success.
Academic staff positions are provided fixed term appointments with annual renewals unless otherwise noted. Reappointment for subsequent terms is dependent upon performance, university funding and external forces.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Business, Student Support, Student Administration, Student Personnel Administration, Higher Education Leadership, or related major.
- 5 years of work experience in student advising or related student support services.
- Knowledge and experience with CRM tools and how to utilize the software to support student success.
- Ability to represent the college at public events and forums.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of CoBE degree programs (traditional and online) and program requirements is highly preferred.
- Previous coaching, mentoring and/or training experience of graduate and undergraduate students.
- Knowledge of campus student support organizations and their respective services.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Admissions Support Services
1. Monitor college enrollments and collaborate with the Assistant Dean of Online Education and Technologies, and Undergraduate Programs, the Associate Dean for Graduate Programs, and college marketing personnel to identify necessary actions and set the future direction for initiatives to attract, support and retain students.
2. Present College information for incoming students, new freshmen, and transfer students. Participate in other CoBE promotional activities.
3. Work with Admissions Office in the evaluation of transfer and international credits for both degree-seeking students and exchange programs
4. Work with CoBE faculty and administrators to develop new pre-college programming and recruitment/retention initiatives, especially aimed at traditionally under-represented students.
Academic Support Services
1. Manage online majors including long-range course planning
2. Manage advising, Multicultural Business Program, and online support staff and advising processes for all business majors; advise business majors; manage office staff and student workers.
3. Enforce college academic requirements for course enrollment, admission to upper-division business courses, and graduation; make decisions regarding requests for exceptions to College policies. Review, approve or deny late add requests, late drop requests, and requests for late withdrawal exceptions for undergraduate business students.
4. Work with the Assistant Dean of Online Education and Technologies, and Undergraduate Programs and the Associate Dean for Graduate Programs to develop and coordinate semester, summer, and Winterim Schedule of Classes with CoBE departments
5. Participate in college and university committees (e.g. Curriculum Committees, Enrollment Management, International, Assurance of Learning, Distance Ed Advisory Committee, Administrative Council, Calendar Committee, etc.).
6. Work with the Academic Advising and Exploration Center to support the collaborative effort to provide freshman through graduation advising to CoBE undergraduate students.
7. Work with the Associate Dean for Graduate Programs to support graduate student advising
8. Work with the Career Services to support the collaborative effort to provide career development services to CoBE students.
9. Research and implement best practices in the College advising model including assessment of advising outcomes to support program initiatives and advisor training.
10. Collaborate with the Student Success Coordinator, AAEC Director and others concerning retention initiatives.
11. Serve as liaison to Learning Communities, Honors, and to coordinators of online programs.
12. Manage the College scholarship process.
13. Participate in College and University committees related to the tasks outlined above, including, but not limited to Enrollment Management, Advising Council, Calendar, Class Climate, and Navigate Workflow and Training.
14. Complete tasks as requested by the College Dean.
High-Quality Leadership
1. Encourage professional development for advising and support staff.
2. Ensure effective communications with students, faculty, and university stakeholders.
3. Collaborate with other supervisors in areas of shared staffing.
4. Supervise staff of approximately 8 people.
5. Serve on CoBE Admin Council and other applicable committees including Academic Advising Council Committee, Preview Day, Admitted Student Day, SOAR Advising Committee, Enrollment Management Committee, CoBE Advising Staff meetings.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
