JOB DETAILS:

This position performs professional information system tasks, under general supervision of the Director of Administrative Information Services, on Oracle/PeopleSoft systems. Duties include: system analysis and design functions and advanced programming tasks, as well as consulting with, assisting, and instructing functional users in the use of IS applications and tools.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Qualifications:

·         1 year of experience in designing relational database tables, views, and writing and executing advanced SQL data manipulation statements required

·         1 year of experience in developing applications using Oracle/PeopleSoft toolset.

·         1 year of experience in performing system requirements analysis and documenting user requirements required

Highly Desired Qualifications:

·         Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related/similar field

·         Knowledge of large, complex Financials, Human Resources or Student Information administrative systems

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

·         Ability to critically analyze problems or issues required

·         Ability to gain knowledge of ICIT's policies, procedures, and standards in system design and specifications, program development, documentation, planning and status reporting

·         Ability to interact respectfully with people from diverse socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds.

·         Willingness and ability to be an active participant in following applicable safety rules and regulations including necessary training and skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

A. Design and develop new applications, customizations of existing applications, and interfaces in accordance with department standards and guidelines.

1.    Work with users to define needed applications, customizations, or interfaces to perform required business functions.

2.    Identify and document system and user requirements.

3.    Design applications, customizations, or interfaces to meet identified requirements.

4.    Design database tables and views as required to develop or maintain effective applications.

5.    Consult with functional area experts to study business problems and define business process requirements.

6.    Assist customers in identifying modifications or new development necessary to implement solutions to business requirements.

7.    Develop time estimates, test plans, and implementation schedules.

8.    Participate in specification reviews or walk-throughs to assure satisfaction of program requirements.

9.    Code, test, and debug complex computer programs and procedures in compliance with standards using advanced techniques and appropriate languages.

10. Conduct system testing to assure correct functioning within the system.

B. User and Production Support

1.    Assist customers in troubleshooting problems with campus applications and determine appropriate solutions.

2.    Assist users in use of tools for queries and reporting.

3.    Resolve and coordinate fixes of production problems with functional users.

4.    Analyze existing complex applications to understand their functionality and be able to answer questions from customers regarding the applications

C. Prepare documentation for and coordinate implementation of new systems or customizations.

1.    Assemble program documentation according to department standards to provide other analyst/programmers with the information to understand the program structure and logic.

2.    Prepare systems documentation that defines the program's function within the system.

3.    Prepare operations documentation that gives execution requirements and special archiving requirements.

D. Participate in professional development programs.

1.    Read books and periodicals to improve understanding of existing and new information technologies.

2.    Attend appropriate seminars, classes, training sessions, and workshops to increase technical knowledge and communication skills.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Well-qualified candidates can expect a starting annual salary within a range of $58,000 – $63,000.
