ATTENTION:
The Office of Global Experiences at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater is seeking a Global Experiences Coordinator (International Education Coordinator, AE050).
JOB DETAILS:
The Coordinator assists with the selection, management, assessment, and marketing of a diverse menu of education abroad and National Student Exchange programs to complement UW-Whitewater’s academic majors and assists UWW students with selecting and succeeding on a high-quality global experience that meets their academic and personal. The Coordinator assists faculty and departments with faculty-led program development and oversees the logistical, fiscal, and contractual components of such program, and supervises returned study abroad students serving as peer advisors in the Office of Global Experiences.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master's degree
- 2 years' experience related to finding global experience for students in an educational setting
- Experience studying, living, working, or participating in service-learning abroad
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience with faculty-led program design and implementation, including proposal development, location and site assessment, itinerary development, and building and reconciling program budgets.
- Demonstrated ability to build coalitions between departments and units and to collaborate effectively with faculty
- Demonstrated commitment to providing seamless service to students, faculty and the university community and respect for diverse perspectives and populations
- Supervisory experience
- Experience with Studio Abroad or other study abroad application and program management system
- Proficiency in one or more foreign languages
RESPONSIBILITIES:

Faculty-Led Program Development:
- Assists faculty and academic departments in the design, implementation, administration, and assessment of 10 - 12 new and reoccurring faculty-led programs annually.
- Oversees faculty-led program budget development including the bid process, contract negotiations and preparation, invoice and program payments, course registration, and billing.
- Ensures compliance with regard to travel services, procurement services, expenditure of university funds, travel expense reimbursement, and other aspects of program financial management.

Develops and implements all student services associated with global and national off-campus program participation at approximately 300 students annually:
- Employs best practices to develop, provide, and assess "full circle" advising services relating to program selection and application, course enrollment and credit evaluation, predeparture preparations, and re-entry challenges.
- Develops educational advising practices and pre-departure and re-entry programming designed to encourage students to develop and reflect upon the learning outcomes they desire from their away experience, and to develop strategies and decision-making tactics that enable them to reach those goals.
- Works with Financial Aid and outside funding sources to assist approximately 75% of student participants with funding their program, and develops student budgets for programs in accordance with State of Wisconsin policy.

Risk Mitigation and Crisis Management:
- Develops and refines portions of the OGE risk management plan related to global academic and co-curricular experiences and U.S. National Student Exchange participation.
- Participates in development of faculty-director training materials and training events held twice yearly.
- Enrolls all UW-W participants in the U.S. State Department’s Smart Travel Enrollment Program for program duration.

Management of Global Experiences Programs:
- Collaborates with colleges and academic departments to identify high-quality global experiences that augment or enhance the University of Wisconsin – Whitewater’s curricular programs.
- Manages approximately 25 exchange and 10 program affiliate relationships and assists with the development of new affiliations as appropriate.
- Manages both inbound and outbound participation in the National Student Exchange program.
- Prepares marketing materials for programs and events for print and electronic distribution.

OGE Administrative Functions:
- Assists with maintenance of OGE website – particularly the global experiences and parent pages – by supplying text and obtaining student and faculty information, photographs and testimonials.
- Cooperates with colleagues to develop and maintain the StudioAbroad on-line application system.
- Prepares reports relating to global experience and exchange participation for both internal and external use.
- Assists with assessment of global learning outcomes.

OGE Programming:
- Collaborates with colleagues and students to plan and implement campus-wide events including Global Experience Fairs (lead role), International Education Week activities, and student recruiting and orientation events.

Supervision of student workers:
- Supervises student workers, including developing position descriptions, interviewing, hiring, establishing expectations and training, mentoring, and implementing appropriate corrective actions.
