INTRODUCTION:
The Department of Career and Leadership Development seeks an Employer Services Assistant (University Services Program Associate).
JOB DUTIES:
This position is primarily “employer-facing”, providing service to businesses and organizations that recruit UW-Whitewater students and graduates for internships and jobs. The position is an initial contact for most employers and responsible to build positive and productive relationships and provide exceptional service to recruiters and hiring managers. The position is responsible to work closely with the Accounting Department to support their Internship Program by sponsoring various events and manages the on-campus interview program. The position also supervises the Customer Service Associates (student employees) who staff the Career & Leadership Development front desk and the Bailey Interview Center.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
EMPLOYER SERVICES AND SUPPORT 75%
A. Management of the On-Campus Interview Program and Bailey Interview Center.
- Coordinate on-campus interviews held in the Bailey Interview Center. This service is used by 100-125 businesses and organizations each year, who sponsor about 2,000 interviews annually
- Serve as a resource to employers and students regarding the use of the Handshake software to register for interviews
- Train, supervise, schedule, and evaluate student staffing to support all interviews
- Administer the water contract and purchase and stock beverages for employer hospitality
- Coordinate all logistics for employer visits to campus, including directions, parking permits, and general hospitality needs
- Collaborate with the Accounting Department’s Internship Coordinator to provide necessary support for the Internship Program
- Serve as a resource to students and employers participating in the program
- Plan, implement, and evaluate the Accounting Etiquette Dinner and the Accounting Career Fair
- According to the procedures established by the Accounting Department, deliver service to employers to ensure their participation meets the standards established by the Accounting Department
- Assist accounting firm recruiters to coordinate all on-campus interviews for the Accounting Internship Program, and work with students to ensure they register and participate according to the established guidelines
- Serve as primary contact for employers desiring to hold on-campus information sessions and/or hall-table displays
- Reserve rooms and tables as needed through University Reservations
- Actively promote employer information sessions and tables to related students and faculty
- Work with Director and other career staff to recruit employers serving all majors represented on campus
- Use tools such as Reference USA and LinkedIn to increase employer participation and recruitment of our students and graduates
- Coordinate and track outreach efforts for each College to ensure diversity of opportunities for students in UW-Whitewater majors
- Identify and recruit employers willing to participate in mock interviews and provide feedback to students as part of a practice interview program
- Coordinate both employer and student participation
- Work with faculty for select classes participating, and promote broadly to students in all majors
- Coordinate all logistics for employer visits to campus, including directions, parking permits, sample questions, and general hospitality needs
- Related to University goals, work with the Director to survey employers to obtain their perspective on how well our graduates are prepared for post-graduation employment
- Survey employers and prepare reports as needed
- For Admissions, collect departmental data about employer recruiting on-campus, and reach out to other departments to collect and report the number of employers who actively recruit on-campus annually
- Assist the Director in the preparation of reports related to graduate employment trends, such as the 10-year report, as well as other related reports
- Complete other data collection as needed by the department
G. Management of Front Desk and Supervision of Students.
- Oversee the operation of the department’s front desk to ensure that we offer a quality guest experience
- Hire, train, schedule, supervise, and evaluate about 15 students to work as Customer Service Associates, staffing our front desk and the Bailey Interview Center
- Assess student staff learning as a result of their experience in the department
- Ensure the front desk and waiting area is clean and professional at all times, and make sure all handouts are well-stocked
- Work with all departmental staff and determine events and messages to promote
- Develop and implement method to provide information about employer visits on these sign-boards
- Work with staff coordinating the department’s social media, involvement technology, and career technology to ensure all information is accurate, attractive, and current
- Attend Career Staff meetings
- Attend Programming Staff meetings
- Attend departmental meetings
- Meet regularly with the Director
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Evidence of interpersonal communication skills, including strong written and oral communication skills.
- Evidence of a previous position with experience in providing customers with positive service.
- Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills in a previous role/position
- Willingness and ability to be an active participant in following applicable safety rules and regulations including necessary training and drills.
- Ability to interact respectfully with people from diverse socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds
