INTRODUCTION:
The Department of University Library at the University of Wisconsin - Whitewater seeks a Library Assistant III (Library Services Assistant - Adv.).
JOB DUTIES:
This is a 100% position and provides overall service and direction to the inclusive outreach and marketing efforts of the Whitewater and Rock Campus libraries, including events, programming, publications, and other campus community collaborations. Works closely with the Library Outreach Committee and Library Director to develop and implement a marketing plan and events schedule. Directs student worker assistants on programming and outreach activities. Works collaboratively with Access Services employees to staff and support library outreach initiatives. Responsibilities also involve providing services at the Circulation Desk including circulation of materials and customer service. Position reports to the Library Director.
Hours: 12:00 pm to 9:00 pm when school is in session. Hours may vary for events, Summer Sessions, and as departmental needs require.

- Serves as a point of contact for library outreach to the UW-Whitewater campuses and communities for programming
- Cultivates and maintains working relationships with liaisons from campus units
- In consultation with library staff, develops collaborative programs and services with university units, organizations, and community groups
- Coordinates initiatives that complement library and campus goals
- Manages projects to achieve planned timelines and budget
- Collects and analyzes data and feedback related to outreach efforts
- Coordinates with Student Employment Coordinator to direct student employees as needed
- Chairs the Library Outreach Committee
- Provides and maintains routine operation of circulation services with excellent customer service
- Ensures appropriate circulation and security of materials through the circulation, renewal and discharge of library materials, including evenings when direct supervisor is not present
- Collaborates with Access Services to track and record usage statistics
- Demonstrates and promotes library services and assists patrons in their use
- Supports the general policies and procedures of the library
- Responds to user questions and complaints
- Assists with troubleshooting of library equipment, such as computers, printers and other new equipment.
- Maintains a presence in social media and other communication formats
- Creates content for web pages and social media related to outreach initiatives
- Manages and maintains library marketing materials, including library signage and photographs
- Designs and creates publicity in various media for marketing materials
- Assists with the creation and distribution of library promotional materials
- Maintains cooperative interpersonal relationships
- Participates in cross-training opportunities
- Attends library and university meetings, as needed.
- Works on special projects as needed
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Participants in following applicable safety rules and regulations including necessary training and drills
Minimum Qualification:
- Customer service experience
- Work experience in graphic design and/or marketing
- Knowledge of graphic design software such as Adobe Photoshop, or Illustrator
- Knowledge and understanding of library operations
- Undergraduate college degree
- Ability to work independently managing multiple tasks
- Experience or course work in graphic design
- Experience planning and supervising events
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including written and oral communications
- Willingness and ability to be an active participant in following applicable safety rules and regulations including necessary training and drills
- Ability to interact respectfully with people from diverse socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds
