INTRODUCTION:

The Instructional, Communication and Information Technology (ICIT) Department at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater seeks an AVCT Integration and Support Lead - (Audio/Video & Classroom Technology) (AV Technician III, IT010). 

The AVCT Integration and Support Lead may be required to work some nights and weekends.

 

JOB DUTIES:

The AVCT Integration and Support Lead works with the Tier II Operations Manager to design and plan classroom and instructional lab upgrade projects at UW-Whitewater. They will ensure that instructional AV technology meets current campus standards while maintaining and completing upgrades as needed. In addition, this person will oversee open Helpdesk tickets assigned to the Tier 2 AV team, ensuring they are resolved accurately and timely. The AVCT Integration and Support Lead will report to the Tier II Operations Manager.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 5 years’ experience working with lab and classroom AV equipment, including data projectors, sound systems, and other peripherals, and their interface to computers and networked systems
  • Ability to read, create, and modify drawings and schematics, preferably in AutoCAD
  • 2-3 years’ experience with AV equipment installation and maintenance, preferably in Crestron

Highly Desired Qualifications:

·    2-3 years’ experience with Crestron programming

·    Ability to create, modify, and deploy programming

·    Ability to train and manage incoming technicians or student workers

·    Ability to diagnose equipment problems and determine appropriate resolutions

·    Ability to communicate effectively and appropriately with customers, management, and peers

·    Ability to maintain thorough project documentation using Microsoft Word and Excel

·    Ability to climb ladders and lift at least 75 pounds

·    Ability to handle multiple concurrent assignments

·    Good organizational skills with a high degree of initiative to learn new things, adaptability, and ability to work collaboratively and independently to achieve goals

· Ability to interact respectfully with people from diverse socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds

· Willingness and ability to be an active participant in following applicable safety rules and regulations including necessary training and drills

Responsibilities:

70%  A.      Project Implementation (Equipment Specification, Installation, and Configuration)

A1.    Create classroom technology design drawings for projects, preferably in AutoCAD. Drawings include system schematics and room layouts (elevations, locations, necessary electrical and cabling needs).

A2.    Specify, install, configure, and troubleshoot lab and classroom technology systems and software.

A3.    Maintain and update existing Crestron programming code currently deployed on campus. Ensure programming is uniform across newly upgraded rooms and aligns with campus programming standards.

A4.    Participate in the consultative process for campus technology upgrades. Recommend necessary technology based on customer objectives and campus-wide initiatives.

A5.    Coordinate with ICIT and FP&M (Facilities Planning and Management) staff in planning classroom remodeling projects.

A6.    Assist in creating detailed project documentation and estimates for various campus projects.

A7.    Collaboratively work with other iCIT groups (workstation, networking, Helpdesk, etc.) to communicate project-related requirements and updates as needed.

A8.    Oversee, train, and guide AVCT Technicians and student workers.

A9.    Assist in tracking in-scope work provided by vendors.

A10.  Work with vendors to obtain equipment quotes and assist in purchasing equipment.

A11. Maintain procurement card, track, and record all purchases. Manage Crestron A+ Rewards by tracking all purchases.

A12.  Ensure all equipment, materials, and labor are accurately charged to the correct project through the campus Work Order system.

20%  B.     Equipment Maintenance and Ongoing Support

B1.    Ensure all AV assets and classroom technology are accurately recorded in 25 Live and Crestron Fusion.

B2.    Collaborate with the Learning Technology Center to provide appropriate documentation and training for users to enable the effective use of technology in lab and classroom facilities

B3.    Monitor lab and classroom AV-related tickets that are reported through ServiceNow.

B4.    Work collaboratively with other iCIT groups to troubleshoot and resolve issues effectively and timely.

B5.    Update and resolve HPSM tickets according to internal service-level agreements.

B6.    Assist in diagnosing and resolving instructional technology problems in labs and classrooms.

B7.    Assist in providing knowledgebase information in ServiceNow for ICIT Tech Support Center.

B8.    Assist with auditing and cataloging classroom technology.

B9.    Facilitate equipment repairs and file warranty claims with vendors for faulty equipment.

B10.  Monitor “service level agreements” to ensure appropriate service levels are provided.

B11.  Follow a regular maintenance/replacement schedule for AV equipment in the campus instructional facilities and carry out the scheduled tasks.

10%  C.      Professional Skills and Teamwork

C1.    Develop and implement standards and procedures to standardize instructional technology across campus.

C2.    Report equipment concerns or issues to management and make recommendations for repair or replacement of classroom technology.

C4.    Work cooperatively with Facilities, Planning, and Management (FP&M) staff and other University personnel on projects with joint responsibilities.

C5.    Stay abreast of the changing standards and technologies.

C6.    Participate in staff meetings and assist in ICIT planning processes.

C7.    Positively influence the workplace and participate in effective team-building.

C8.    Participate in other iCIT projects as assigned.
