All incoming students (age 24 and younger) need to have either their ACT or SAT scores on file with the Admissions Office prior to registering for Warhawks SOAR (Student Orientation, Advising, and Registration). It is strongly recommended that students take the UW System Math Placement Test prior to attending Warhawks SOAR (Student Orientation, Advising, and Registration), as students will be unable to register for a math course if the exam has not been taken. Additionally, it is recommended that all students with previous foreign language course work take the appropriate placement test(s). Students who have taken foreign languages (French, German, or Spanish) in high school and plan to continue these studies at UW-Whitewater must take the foreign language placement test. Some may qualify to earn up to 16 "retroactive credits" on the basis of those placement tests and performance in the subsequent university class…with no additional fees! (For example, if a student is placed in Spanish 142 and receives and A or B in the course, he/she will also be given credit for Spanish 141 - 4 credits - at no extra cost.)
Beginning February 1st, 2016, students can register for UW placement tests. Testing will be offered at all UW campuses and a few sites in Illinois and Minnesota. The testing window is mid-March to late August.
Students can visit the UW System Center for Placement Testing for more information.
