Covid-Care Packages

The University Honors Program is aware that many students and community members are suffering due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and many people face financial challenges due to being furloughed or laid off from employment.

Therefore, the University Honors Program (UHP) in conjunction with the Honors Student Association (HSA) are reaching out to students, community members, and local businesses in hopes that people will be able to donate either basic supplies or make a financial donation that will help people in the Whitewater community and beyond. 100% of donations will go to those in need. Some supplies that we are collecting include shelf-stable food like oatmeal, fruit snacks, sandwich crackers, trail mix, cup of noodles, microwavable mac and cheese, and microwavable soup. We are also collecting basic necessities like tissues, Vitamin C, cough drops, hygiene products, and new clothing for cool weather (mittens, scarves, hats). 

Those who make a financial donation of $100 or more will be named (if desired) on an insert that accompanies each Covid-Care Package. We will write something like “Please support these Businesses and Donors who support our Community” on this Donors’ List. We do plan to contact UWW’s media to help us broadcast that we have packages available for distribution to those who could use a care package.

Thank you for taking the time to consider making a donation. The first stage of our plan is to distribute Covid-Care Packages to students in quarantine at a residence hall (Clem Hall) at UW-Whitewater. Students there have stated that they feel isolated and would appreciate more basic essentials like water, food, and hygiene products. If we are able to raise sufficient funds, then we will also distribute care packages to residents in the surrounding community before Thanksgiving of this year.
