ELA students' schedules depend upon their placement level. ELA classes are in session Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:30 AM and 4:00 PM. Required Supplemental Instruction sessions take place on weekday evenings.
There's always something happening at UW-Whitewater. ELA students have full access to university events, concerts, plays, clubs and organizations. There's so much to see and do, students will find many ways to relax.
The UW-Whitewater Center for Global Education coordinates a free Host Family Program for international students. Students interested in having a host family should express their interest to the ELA Coordinator during their orientation. The program coordinator will inform all students of their host family assignments following orientation and discussions with host families.
ELA students are eligible to live in UW-Whitewater on-campus residence halls. ELA students are encouraged to live with a domestic student roommate to help with English language development. Affordable off-campus apartments are available in the community within walking distance to campus for ELA students age 21 and over.
All ELA students must be enrolled in a health insurance policy. ELA students who are uninsured will be enrolled in the university's international student insurance plan through Student Assurance Services. The ELA will arrange to bill the insurance premiums to student accounts. ELA students who already have coverage provided under a comparable, Affordable Care Act compliant insurance plan, must bring proof of this coverage (insurance policy and card) with them to orientation.
Students enrolled in the UW-Whitewater ELA have access to a variety of academic and non-academic resources and facilities on campus and in the surrounding community. For more, click here.
