Student Teaching - Sweden

Umea, Sweden

Umea, Sweden

Fall or Spring Semester 4 - 6 weeks.

Student teaching in Sweden is an opportunity for students in Curriculum and Instruction and Special Education to complete 4-6 weeks of directed teaching in Umea, Sweden.  Students will begin their directed teaching in Wisconsin, travel to Sweden to teach in a Swedish school, and then return to Wisconsin to complete their directed teaching assignment.  Student teacher placement typically occurs at the same grade level/subject area as the Wisconsin placement.

University of Wisconsin-Whitewater students participate in the course "Teaching and Learning in an International Context" at Umea University, where they have the opportunity learn about the Swedish culture and school system and interact with student teachers from other countries.  Students will share about their home culture and school system while learning about each other's educational system and culture.

Please contact the Faculty Coordinator for Sweden Student Teaching, Dr. Sharon Kolb, to get more information about the Sweden Student Teaching Program and to
set up an appointment for approval.
