What you need to know about the licensing programs

Getting Started

  1. Fill out the mobile application development form
    (NOTE: If you are a student, you will need to have an instructor as your project sponsor.)
  2. After submitting this form, you will be contacted for a consultation.
  3. After the consultation and approval of your project, you will be required to sign an Agreement form stating your compliance.

Apple iOS Developer University Program

The University Program addresses the faculty and student need for the ability to learn how to develop Apple applications and enhance skills and knowledge in their field of study.

Key factors (both students and Instructors under this program level):

  • Pre-release versions of iOS SDK is not available.
  • Code-level technical support is not available.
  • Apps developed may not be distributed, as follows: ad-hoc, iTunes store, in-house.
  • Any code developed under this program is owned by the university. Students who seek to retain ownership of their code and have plans to commercialize it would be required to open a "standard" individual account for $99/year.

Apple iOS Developer "Standard" Company Program

The Corporate Program addresses the need for faculty and students to be able to commercially distribute the applications that are developed as part of their coursework.

Key factors (both students and Instructors under this program level):

  • Pre-release versions of iOS SDK are made available.
  • Code-level technical support is available.
  • Apps developed may be distributed in an ad-hoc manner and via the Apple App store, but NOT used in-house.
  • Any code developed under this program is owned by the university.
  • The apps are UW-Whitewater branded and distributed for free via the iTunes store. Paid-for apps – use personal accounts.
  • Cannot create an Apple Push Notification Service Certification (APNs), which propagates information from provider to iOS devices.

MOBILE Application Style Guidelines

  1. Page components
    1. Official UW-Whitewater logo that links back to UW-Whitewater home page (http://www.uww.edu).
    2. Use official colors: purple, black and white (in some capacity).
    3. Intuitive navigation throughout.
  2. Header and footer
    1. Custom banner and footer to aid users in navigating from one site to another within the application or uww.edu domain.
  3. Logo usage
    1. There are two official versions – vertical and horizontal – and either is acceptable.
    2. Download UW-Whitewater logos online at the campus identity standards website.
    3. Review the campus identity standards for correct/incorrect logo usage.
