UW-Whitewater political science major Kayla White did not believe she would succeed in college after a 2.3 GPA in high school. But through the encouragement of her professors, the Dixon, Illinois, native was named to the Dean's List six times, landed a prestigious internship, earned a college scholarship, graduated with honors and is headed to law school.

Live music and beautiful weather brought the Warhawk family together on the UW-Whitewater campus to attend a Jesse McCartney concert and watch the football team defeat the University of Dubuque 42-7.

Kudos to Dy’Quan Gipson, accounting major, and Brian Diggs, finance major, who are among the 1,000 college students selected as Forbes Under 30 Scholars and invited to attend the Forbes Under 30 Summit on Oct. 27-30 in Detroit, Michigan. At the event, students network with investors, entrepreneurs, celebrities, musicians, fashion designers, sport stars, cultural icons, world-renowned chefs, educators, political leaders and business icons who represent the entrepreneurial spirit of the Forbes 30 Under 30 list.

Smoke testing
 
The City of Whitewater Wastewater Utility will be conducting smoke testing in the sanitary sewer collection system, generally south of Main Street Sept. 9-13. Testing will be initiated through the opening of manholes in the streets and utility easements. This testing is being done to identify leaks, cracks or cross connections in the sanitary sewer. It is recommended that customers add one gallon of water to all drains prior to testing. Should smoke enter your home or business, please contact a member of the smoke testing crew working in your area.
