Meant to Be a Warhawk

UW-Whitewater political science major Kayla White did not believe she would succeed in college after a 2.3 GPA in high school. But through the encouragement of her professors, the Dixon, Illinois, native was named to the Dean's List six times, landed a prestigious internship, earned a college scholarship, graduated with honors and is headed to law school.

A Warhawk win and a serenading Jesse McCartney

Live music and beautiful weather brought the Warhawk family together on the UW-Whitewater campus to attend a Jesse McCartney concert and watch the football team defeat the University of Dubuque 42-7.

Warhawk Drive is purple once again, thanks to the Class of 2023! Our newest family members hit the ground running this week as they participated in fun bonding activities and UW-Whitewater campus traditions.

Campus Kudos

Kudos to Dy’Quan Gipson, accounting major, and Brian Diggs, finance major, who are among the 1,000 college students selected as Forbes Under 30 Scholars and invited to attend the Forbes Under 30 Summit on Oct. 27-30 in Detroit, Michigan. At the event, students network with investors, entrepreneurs, celebrities, musicians, fashion designers, sport stars, cultural icons, world-renowned chefs, educators, political leaders and business icons who represent the entrepreneurial spirit of the Forbes 30 Under 30 list.

Members of seven local communities, including UW-Whitewater students such as Samantha Rennie, accounting major, banded together to help clean up the Rock River.

Have a laugh with comedian D.J. Demers

The University Center's Down Under is a great place for entertainment. At 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 12, they will be hosting comedian D.J. Demers. This live performance is free! As seen on Conan and America’s Got Talent, the night is sure to be filled with lots of laughs!

Option to change your meal plan

All Warhawks interested in changing their meal plan have until Friday, Sept. 20, to make necessary adjustments. Changes can be made by visiting the HawkCard Office or it can be done online.

Hawk Career Week

In anticipation for the upcoming Hawk Career Fair, several workshops will be available throughout the month of September for students to attend. The Career Fair, on Wednesday, Oct. 2, will bring over 170 employers to campus.

Unwind with four-legged friends

Relieve stress with our four-legged Warhawk family members! Pet therapy, which occurs regularly on alternating Mondays and Tuesdays, provides a safe and relaxing enviornment for students to unwind. The next pet therapy session is at noon on Tuesday, Sept. 17, in the Andersen Library.

Visit the Relaxation Room

Located on the second floor of the Ambrose Health Center, the Relaxation Room is a private, quiet space to develop and practice relaxation skills to enhance overall well-being. This is one space on campus to simply rest, breathe, and relax with no agenda. All UW-Whitewater students and employees are welcome.

Mail services available in the University Center

Information Services, located on the main level of the University Center, provides all your mailing needs including envelopes, boxes, stamps and USPS Priority Mailers. Already have your items packaged and ready to go? Information Services can take your USPS and UPS letters and packages, which are picked up every weekday at 9:30 a.m. and 2:15 p.m.

Enhance learning with TurningPoint Polling

Interested in incorporating polling into your classroom? TurningPoint is the campus-supported student response system that allows you to poll your class and display results instantly. Representatives from Turning Technologies will be on campus Wednesday, Sept. 11. Join us for one of these sessions Virtually via Webex or physically in McGraw 19a to learn more.

Smoke testing

The City of Whitewater Wastewater Utility will be conducting smoke testing in the sanitary sewer collection system, generally south of Main Street Sept. 9-13. Testing will be initiated through the opening of manholes in the streets and utility easements. This testing is being done to identify leaks, cracks or cross connections in the sanitary sewer. It is recommended that customers add one gallon of water to all drains prior to testing. Should smoke enter your home or business, please contact a member of the smoke testing crew working in your area.
