State of the University Address
All are invited to join Interim Chancellor Jim Henderson at the annual State of the University Address at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 22, in Young Auditorium.
We will be celebrating those with 10 or more years of service, UW-Whitewater and UW System award winners, new campus leaders, governance leaders and recently awarded faculty emeriti.

Football led NCAA Division III in attendance in 2021
Warhawk football led the NCAA Division III in both cumulative and average attendance during the 2021 season, drawing nearly 70,000 fans to Perkins Stadium for home games.
The Warhawks averaged a nation-leading 6,975 fans over 10 home games, including six in the regular season and four in the NCAA Playoffs.
The team's total attendance of 69,754 was nearly 18,000 more than its closest peer and is believed to be the most in one season in school history.

Orin Smith, a legal studies and women's studies double major, has released his first episode of “Queer Spaces in Rural Places” for Queery, which is the longest running local radio show dedicated to LGBTQIA2S issues on 89.9 FM. The 35 segment is a celebratory homage to Whitewater City’s first pride rally and the inclusive environment they found at UW-Whitewater.

Justin Miklaszewski, a general management major, turned his hobby of selling meat into a small business called Two Creek Farms that he established in 2018, at the age of 18. This year, on Jan. 22, Miklaszewski held a grand opening for his new storefront in Union Grove that attracted 1,500 customers. He hopes to provide Racine County with local, all-natural, genetic modification-free fresh meat and produce.

Teresa Faris, professor of art and design, organized the Student Juried Exhibition on display now through Feb. 25 at the Crossman Gallery. The exhibit features works submitted by student artists from UW-Whitewater’s Department of Art and Design. Mediums include author jewelry, metals, painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, books, graphic design, digital media and photography.

Black History Month events
Celebrate Black History Month with several events around campus. At 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 16, in Summers Auditorium, there will be a campus screening for “The Loyola Project.” This documentary focuses on the 1963 National Championship Loyola Ramblers, who changed the game of college basketball during the height of the civil rights era.

UC Live will be hosting beatboxing comedian Tyler Boeh at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 17, in the University Center Down Under. Tyler is known for his talent of beatboxing and finding ways to incorporate his quick wit into relatable and funny jokes. This is a free event you don’t want to miss!

Free bingo night! At 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 18, UC Live will host this event in the University Center Hamilton Room. There will be more than $500 in prizes to be given away to winners. Spots are limited and on a first-come first-served basis, so make sure to get there to claim your spot ASAP!

Two one-act operas for one evening of musical enjoyment! “The Harpies” focuses on Phineus, a sightless oracle, whose attempts to enjoy his dinner are thwarted by the Harpies. “Signor Deluso” is a comedy of layered misunderstandings. Tickets for this event are free, but must be reserved in advance.

ABBA: Their music and their fans
Join us for a fun and virtual discussion about the international music sensation ABBA and their long-time appeal. At 5 p.m. Wednesday, March 9, John Eason, associate lecturer of Scandinavian Studies at the University of Alberta, will share the cultural and sociological context of ABBA as an international music phenomenon as well as its iconic status within the gay community. A virtual discussion and reception will follow with an opportunity meet the speaker, connect and have fun.
