Graduate celebrations
The weekend also included a special commencement ceremony for 2020 and 2021 graduates, followed by a celebration at Cravath Lakefront Park in downtown Whitewater. All graduates of the classes of 2022, 2021 and 2020 were invited to celebrate with family, friends and the whole community.

Cambridge University Press has published a study with implications for public and private land management strategies co-authored by Nic Tippery, associate professor of biology, and two undergraduate researchers, Alyssa L. Olson and Jenni L. Wendtlandt.

Kudos to Kenny E. Yarbrough, associate vice chancellor for diversity, equity, inclusion and support programs, for appearing in the international publication of The Sphinx, the official magazine of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. The story centered around his special project of highlighting and honoring essential workers during 2020 for their service to the most affected zip codes of COVID-19 in the city of Milwaukee. Yarbrough serves as the chaplain of Delta Chi Lambda Chapter of Alpha and he and his program were spotlighted in the publication. Yarbrough also serves as the campus advisor to the Zeta Iota Chapter of Alpha at UW-Whitewater.
Kudos to Anna Lindell, assistant professor of psychology, for presenting “Relationships with Parents, Academic Self-Efficacy, and Emotional Adjustment Among First-Generation and Continuing-Generation College Students” at the 2022 Biennial Meeting of the Society for Research on Adolescence.

Enjoy food truck Tuesdays this summer!
Dining Services is bringing back their food trailer for some summer fun! From 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on Tuesdays campus can enjoy specials out of their food trailer on the North Mall of the UC. In June, there will be walking tacos, burgers, hot dogs, veggies burgers, fries, Asian cuisine and a waffle bar, depending on the week.

Warhawks In Motion Team Challenge
Warhawks in Motion is a team step/movement challenge that will run from June 13 through Aug. 19. Participants will create teams of 2-5 members. Team members will receive Warhawk Wellness swag when signing up and a trophy will be awarded to the winning team!
This is a friendly, campus and workplace-wide competition encouraging healthy living and exercise.

In the Community
Free spaghetti dinners continue through summer
All are welcome! Free spaghetti to-go meals will continue to be offered 5-5:30 p.m., every Monday at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Whitewater. You may pick up the meal at the 133 S. Franklin Street entrance. If you need more than one meal to get you through the week, you are welcome to more meals.
Each meal contains:
- 1 pound cooked spaghetti
- 2 seasoned meatballs
- Choice of 1/2 cup of marinara sauce or 1/2 cup of alfredo sauce
- 1 tablespoon Parmesan cheese
- Italian seasoning
Live Music at Whiney's
Join us for live music 6-8 p.m. every Friday night at Whiney's Wood Fire Pizza, located at N8660 Clover Valley Road in Whitewater (next to the Fuzzy Pig).

The Community Space
The Community Space, located at 834 E. Milwaukee Street in Whitewater, Wisconsin, provides food, clothing, furniture and more. Hours are Tuesdays and Thursdays, 8:30-11 a.m., Wednesdays 3:30-7 p.m. and Saturdays 8:30 a.m. to noon. All are welcome.
Summer Reading for Adults
Summer Reading for Adults at the Irvin L. Young Memorial Library is happening June 15 through July 31. Visit the library to collect fun, bookish buttons, play book bingo to earn prizes and join us for Friday Crafternoons.
