VIDEO: Leveling Up

Esports is a fast-growing club on the UW-Whitewater campus where students can join online or in person. Participants become better esport athletes and push themselves to pursue their passion. A newly opened Esports Studio, with 25 accessible gaming-equipped computers, is located in the lower level of Wells West residence hall and open to both students and community members.

Campus Kudos

Kudos to Eric Compas, professor of geography, geology and environmental science and director of the GIS Center, who has secured $45,000 in funding via two Ideadvance grants for a new startup. The business idea, AdventureCast, is a mobile application that integrates GIS data and weather forecasting to help travelers effectively plan trips and make the most of their outdoor adventures. Compas will engage UW-Whitewater computer science and GIS students in creating and executing the application over the coming academic year.

Kudos to Victor Barger, associate professor of marketing, and Jimmy Peltier, professor of marketing, who co-authored a paper that received the Journal of Research in Interactive Marketing 2022 Outstanding Paper award. “Enhancing the value co-creation process: artificial intelligence and mobile banking service platforms” was also co-authored by Elizabeth Manser Payne, who earned a DBA at UW-Whitewater.
