Kudis to Shia Lee, international education coordinator in the Office of Global Experiences, who was awarded the Region V New Professional Award by NAFSA, the national international education professional association. Region V encompasses Wisconsin, Illinois, and Michigan, and the award was presented at the regional conference in Milwaukee. The award recognizes an individual in the region who is new to the field of international education and who has made an outstanding contribution to international education.
Kudos to Chief Matt Kiederlen for being elected as the education chair of the International Chiefs of Police Association, University and College Section, during this year’s annual conference. Chief Kiederlen will be responsible for overseeing the implementation of educational opportunities for the section membership. Membership consists of university and college police chiefs from around the world. Based on the by-laws of the section, Chief Kiederlen will ascend to vice-chair of the section in two years, and then to section chair two years after that.
Kudos to Deanna Guthrie, associate professor of social work, Sarah Hessenauer, professor of social work, and Faith Jones, a social worker major with a second major in Spanish, who presented "Religion and Spirituality in Social Work" at the National Association of Social Work State Conference at the Wisconsin Dells on Oct. 21, 2022. Kudos to the Forensics Team, who recently won 15 individual awards en route to a second-place team finish at the Moraine Valley College Forensics Tournament in Palos Hills, Illinois. Members of the team include: Caryana Dominguez, professional writing and publishing major, Amanda Eaton, general management major, Megan Ehle, biology major, Kensington Narkis, human resource management major, Grace Palmer, music major, and Kolden Severson, elementary education major. Eaton earned two tournament championships — in Program Oral Interpretation and Poetry Interpretation — and was named the best speaker of the entire competition, winning the individual sweepstakes. Palmer and Severson were tournament champions in Duo Interpretation.

Kudos to Women's Golf for capturing its sixth consecutive Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference title after defeating UW-La Crosse in a one-hole playoff. The Warhawks receive the league's automatic bid into the NCAA Division III Championships. Read more »
