UW-Whitewater at Rock County offers new nursing degree program
A unique new collaboration is bringing a nursing program to UW-Rock County! The program, complete with a full faculty, clinical coordination expertise, and an innovative curriculum that integrates classroom instruction with instructors from Edgewood College with hands-on clinical and simulation experiences, is set to launch with its initial cohort in the fall of 2023. It is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) and approved by the Wisconsin Board of Nursing.

Kudos to Matt Aschenbrener, associate vice chancellor for enrollment and retention, who presented at Ice Age Trail University on Jan. 10 on hiking the Ice Age Trail. He completed the nearly 1,200-mile trail over two years and finished last summer, the 358th person to complete it. The IAT, one of 11 National Scenic Trails, is located completely in Wisconsin.
Kudos to Jenna Cushing-Leubner, associate professor of curriculum and instruction, who will present together with XF Pang Yang at an invited talk at 7 p.m. CST Wednesday, Feb. 15. “Nurturing Hmong Futurity: Growing a Collective of Critical Hmong Language and Cultural Studies Educators” shares the Lub Zej Zog/National HMoob Language Teacher Coalition projects’ methodology for community-driven participatory design research for Hmong language and culture reclamation education.

Kudos to Jo Ann Oravec, professor of information technology and supply chain management, for publishing an article in the top-tier peer-reviewed journal Technological Forecasting and Social Change. The article is entitled "Rage against robots: Emotional and motivational dimensions of anti-robot attacks, robot sabotage, and robot bullying."

Kudos to Zaifeng Steve Fan, associate professor of finance and business law, for publishing an article in the peer-reviewed Economics Letters titled “How different are minority managers from White managers in the mutual fund industry?” This study reports that systematic differences exist between minority and white managers and the racial disparity in the mutual fund industry is unlikely due to performance differences.

Scavenger hunt at URock
The scavenger hunt starts at noon on Monday, Jan. 30, and will end Thursday, Feb. 2. Students can pick up the scavenger packets at the Warhawk Solution Center and then follow the directions in the packet. After finding words in specific campus locations, students will put the words they found into a sentence.

The application period for the majority of scholarships will end on Wednesday, Feb. 22. More than 250 scholarships are available. These applications will be used to award scholarships for the 2023-2024 academic year. You must be enrolled for at least one semester of the 2023-2024 academic year to qualify.
