On Saturday, March 18 — a 20-degree day! — Warhawks participated in the Polar Plunge at Cravath Lakefront Park in downtown Whitewater to benefit Special Olympics Wisconsin. $28,834 was raised for the cause!

The National Intercollegiate Wheelchair Basketball Tournament took place last week in Whitewater and included 11 teams from across the country. Head Coach Jake Williams, a UW-Whitewater alumnus and former member of the team, and current player Talen Jourdan, a business major from Deerfield, were interviewed by the NBC15 news to speak about their connection to the sport. Nicholas Gulig, associate professor of languages and literatures, was interviewed by WUWM 89.7 FM. Gulig, who has authored three poetry books, uses poetry as a way to bridge meaning. WUWM »

The Wisconsin Poet Laureate Commission selected Nicholas Gulig to be the state poet laureate on Jan. 9. He is the first Asian American to be chosen for the position, which offers the chance to promote poetry writing and reading in Wisconsin and honor the state's natural and cultural landmarks. In Division III championship play, Warhawk Men’s Basketball put out their best effort to qualify for their sixth and most recent trip — making it to the Final Four. The effort was in honor of Derek Gray, the team’s star player who unexpectedly passed away from a cardiac event in late July 2022 while taking part in a youth basketball camp on campus. Come check out Roberta’s Art Gallery’s "Walled Gardens" exhibit, featuring pieces by artist Ben Orozco. Orozco's artwork challenges the way we see farming and the flattening of landscapes.
