What are CyberGirlz & CyberHigh?

CyberGirlz is a FREE camp designed for incoming 6th, 7th, and 8th grade girls who are interested in learning more about technology.  It is a day camp that is two full days (8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.) – July 18 & 19.

CyberHigh is an overnight camp for incoming 9th through 12th grade girls.  Campers spend two days (July 13-14) working on a project that uses technology to solve problems.  They also participate in recreational activities.

Why should you get involved?

It’s not only a great opportunity for the girls who attend, but also a great opportunity for you to:

  • Learn or enhance your technical skills
  • Gain experience with middle school girls
  • Make contacts with IT professionals and other teachers
  • Experience builder for your resume
  • Have fun while making a positive impact

Consider applying as an instructor, mentor, or camp assistant.

  • Instructors will be responsible for developing fun, engaging, interesting activities for the above listed topics and instructing campers (assistance will be provided by ITSCM faculty).
  • Mentors will be assigned to groups of campers to assist them throughout the day and to serve as ambassadors who promote IT careers (which would mean promoting preparation for those IT careers).
  • Junior Mentors (ages 14 - 18) will serve as peer ambassadors to assist campers throughout the day and talk about their experiences working with similar technologies.
  • Camp assistants will help with daily camp functions like:  registration, volunteer management, snack set up, etc.

All positions will be supported by the camp director.  There is very little you’ll need to do other than show up, follow directions, and have fun!

The camp budget includes a limited number of paid positions.  Applications for these will be taken on a first come, first serve basis.  However, we will accept all of the volunteers we can get.  Compensation for CyberGirlz is $80 per day.  Compensation for CyberHigh is $60 per shift (e.g. camp day)  and $100 for overnight, and preference will be given to candidates that can do the day shift and overnight shift (max of 4 individuals for overnights). You can fill out the online application at https://goo.gl/forms/C0j9V1UbOQj5ER1P2  by April 14, 2017.
