<p>In order to be eligible for an I-20 to attend UW–Whitewater as an F-1 international student, the student must provide adequate proof of financial support, which includes the above direct costs and estimated personal expenses as required by US Department of Homeland Security for I-20 issuance.</p>

SCHOLARSHIPS AND FUNDING
<p>At UW-Whitewater, we value the diversity and unique experiences each international student brings to our campus. To help you achieve your dream of a degree from our university, we have several scholarships available.</p>
Freshmen
<p>Three types of scholarships exist for incoming freshmen:</p>

<li>Freshman Merit: $2,000 per year ($1,000 in fall, $1,000 in spring)</li>
<li>Freshman Distinction: $4,000 per year ($2,000 in fall, $2,000 in spring)</li>

On-campus employment
<p>Some University of Wisconsin-Whitewater international students decide to engage in on-campus employment. U.S. immigration laws allow for on-campus employment under specific conditions.</p>
<ul>
<li>International students in F-1 status are allowed to work on- campus in the service of students up to 20 hours per week while school is in session and full-time during summer, spring, and winter breaks. This may be for certain university offices such as library, housing, tutoring center, or dining services</li>
<li>Off-campus employment is strictly prohibited by F-1 visa holders and results in termination of F-1 status requiring departure from the United States except under limited conditions set out by U.S. immigration regulation.</li>
</ul>
<p>International Student Orientation includes information about F-1 student employment regulations, allowances, and restrictions. Students are responsible for finding their own on-campus employment.</p>

Business and Computer Science International Student Provost Scholarship
<p>International students who meet the following criteria are eligible for the $1,000 per year ($500 in Fall, $500 in spring) Business and Computer Science International Student Provost Scholarship:</p>
<ul>
<li>Undergraduate Student with a declared major in the College of Business and Economics, Computer Science, Integrated Science and Business B.S., and Economics B.A./B.S.</li>
<li>Active F1 status</li>
</ul>
<p>This scholarship is available to new First-Year students for up to eight (8) semesters. Transfer students' length of eligibility will vary based on the number of credits transferred in; for example, a student transferring in as a Third-Year student with sixty credits (60) would be eligible for four (4) semesters.</p>
