<p>You should apply as an international freshman if:</p>
<ul>
<li>You are not a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident</li>
<li>You want to pursue an undergraduate degree</li>
<li>You have never enrolled at a higher education institution</li>

<li>Apply first and only after you’ve sent in the supporting documents — that would facilitate the processing of all the materials.</li>
<li>Make sure your name on the application is the same as it appears on your passport.</li>
<li>Make sure the permanent home address is your home country address even if you currently live in the U.S.</li>
<li>Your mailing address can be your U.S. address if you have one.</li>
<li>If you do not have a social security number (SSN), you can leave that field blank.</li>
<li>International students are only eligible to begin study in <span style="text-decoration: underline;">Fall or Spring semesters</span>.</li>

Academic records
<p>Submit an official evaluation by <a href="https://www.ece.org/ECE" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Educational Credential Evaluators</a>, <a href="https://www.wes.org/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">World Education Services</a>, or <a href="https://oneearthevaluations.org/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">OneEarthEvaluation</a> of secondary level credentials. Please request an evaluation that includes a grade point average. We do not accept evaluations by other companies.</p>
<p>International Admissions can consider applicants on in-progress coursework. If admitted, you must provide an official transcript document prior to the start of your second semester at UW-Whitewater. You will not be able to register for the second semester until the admissions office receive those documents.</p>

<p>Students seeking F-1 student status are required to prove financial resources adequate to meet expenses while studying at the university. Below are the estimated expenses for undergraduate international students for <strong>2026-2027</strong>:</p>

<li>Tuition estimates are for one full academic year of study (fall and spring) with students taking between 12-18 credits per semester.

<li>The estimates do not include laboratory, course or other fees.</li>
<li>Tuition and fees are subject to change at the discretion of the Universities of Wisconsin Board of Regents.</li>

<li>The Universities of Wisconsin require all international and exchange students to be covered by the UW System International Student Health Insurance policy. Students will be enrolled in the Universities of Wisconsin required health insurance policy by the university and charges will be added to the student’s bill. (UW System Administrative Policy 147, B, 2)</li>
<li>If you plan to bring dependents (spouse and children), please reach out to <a href="mailto:intladmission@uww.edu">intladmission@uww.edu</a> for instructions on submitting financial certification.</li>
<li>For purposes of the F visa program, UW-Whitewater estimates personal expenses (clothing, local travel, recreation, toiletries, telephone, etc.) at $3,510. Everyone has different spending habits — you may spend more or less than the estimates.</li>

<p>International students will need to submit additional financial documentation for immigration purposes to <a href="mailto:intladmission@uww.edu">intladmission@uww.edu</a>. These items are not required at the time of admission but will be required to have an I-20 issued.</p>
