International admissions next steps <p><a id="next-steps"></a></p> <p>Already accepted? Congratulations! We are excited to welcome you to our campus. Here are the steps you’ll need to take on your path to becoming a Warhawk.</p> <p><img src="images/global-ed/international-admissions-main2.jpg" width="100%" height="auto" class="blockImg" caption="false" alt="An international student works on a laptop outside on campus." /></p> <p> </p> 1. Set up your Warhawk e-mail (and check it often) <p>Your campus e-mail is the main way we’ll be contacting you. Check it regularly so you don’t miss out on important information and reminders. To set up your e-mail, follow the steps below:</p> <ol> <li><a href="https://idmapps.uww.edu/landing/">Visit our identity app</a>.</li> <li>Enter your username, the NetID provided on your acceptance letter, and your password, your seven-digit ID number.</li> <li>On the next page, you’ll be automatically prompted to change your password (click on the widget to change your password if you’re not). Choose a personal password that you’ll use to access all accounts at the university, especially your campus e-mail.</li> <li>Once you change your password, you’ll be able to access the <a href="http://outlook.com/owa/uww.edu" target="_blank" rel="noopener">e-mail portal</a>, which is also located at the top of our <a href="https://www.uww.edu/">UW-Whitewater homepage</a>.</li> <li>Check your e-mail each day for updates and information.</li> </ol> Arrow 2. Apply for U.S. student visa <p>After we have informed you that your I-20 or DS-2019 is on its way, arrange for an appointment with the nearest U.S. consulate. <a href="https://studyinthestates.dhs.gov/guide-to-studying-in-the-states" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Find more information for degree-seeking students »</a></p> <p><a href="https://j1visa.state.gov/participants/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Find more information for exchange students here »</a></p> <p>I-20 or DS-2019 is your agreement with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and/or U.S. Department of State that outlines your reason to be in the United States and that you are responsible for knowing and obeying federal immigration requirements. Please review all aspects of the form before signing to ensure that you agree to and are able to comply with all related immigration regulations.</p> <ul> <li>You will need I-20 or DS-2019 to apply for and obtain a visa to the United States</li> <li>You should have your I-20 or DS-2019 with you to show the customs officer when you enter the United States</li> <li>You should carry your I-20 or DS-2019 with you at all times while in the United States</li> <li>You should keep all your I-20s or DS-2019s as documentary evidence for future U.S. visas</li> </ul> Arrow 3. Apply for housing <p>Contracts are available Oct. 1 for the next fall start. You will need to submit a signed deposit form to <a href="mailto:intladmission@uww.edu">intladmission@uww.edu</a>.</p> Arrow 4. Register for orientation <p>All students are required to attend orientation, where you’ll learn useful information about your new home and get to meet other students and support staff.</p> <p><a href="https://international.uww.edu/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Register for orientation »</a></p> <ul> <li>In the upper left corner, click on “(Your start term) International Orientation Registration”</li> <li>Click on “Register Now”</li> <li>Choose “I have a username and password” and use your UWW NetID and password</li> <li>Complete all required parts of the registration (“Completed” box is checked or documents are uploaded)</li> <li>Click “Submit Application/Request” at the top of the page when done</li> </ul> Arrow 5. Log into Canvas <p><a href="https://www.uww.edu/canvas">Log into Canvas</a> with your NetID and password.</p> Arrow 6. Plan your travel <p>Plan to arrive no later than the day before your orientation.</p> <p>UW-Whitewater’s closest major airport is <a href="https://www.flychicago.com/ohare/home/pages/default.aspx" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Chicago O’Hare</a> (ORD), which is a two-hour drive from campus. There are a number of buses each day that travel from O’Hare to Janesville, WI. Students may take a Lyft or Uber from Janesville to Whitewater.</p> <p>You can also fly into Milwaukee’s <a href="https://www.mitchellairport.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">General Mitchell</a> (MKE) airport.
