Welcome to the Department of Computer Science at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater! In our classrooms in McGraw Hall and in our online master's degree courses, our students learn to create apps, games, and software; develop cutting-edge AI tools; defend against cyber threats; and participate in research with our expert faculty to stretch the limits of technology. Our graduates deliver innovative software and protect data and systems at a wide range of companies and organizations in Wisconsin and around the country. We offer on-campus bachelor's degrees in Computer Science, with emphases in Artificial Intelligence and in Game Development; on-campus bachelor's degrees in Cybersecurity and fully online master's degrees in Cybersecurity; and a flexible, career-change friendly master's degree program in Computer Science with in-person and online options. We also offer several minors and certificates that can add computational skills to any major. Our professors are dedicated to both teaching and research. We publish papers, secure grants, and present research at international conferences in areas like machine learning, computer vision, cybersecurity, privacy protection, software engineering, and more. Our students gain professional experience beyond their classes by participating in research; competing in programming contests and cyber defense competitions; making connections and experimenting with new technologies in our student organizations; earning credit for internships; and more. A few students even start their own business with help from UW-Whitewater's LaunchPad student entrepreneurship program!
