UW-Whitewater named a top workplace

May 20, 2013

top workplaceFor the third consecutive year, the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater is the only university and only state agency named a Top Workplace in southeast Wisconsin.

The regional list, compiled by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, ranks public and private organizations based on employee surveys. More than 93,700 people in southeast Wisconsin were asked questions about company direction, pay and benefits, management, work/life balance and career opportunities.

"I am so pleased that our campus earned a three-peat in the Top Workplaces," said Chancellor Richard Telfer. "UW-Whitewater is a wonderful community. People refer to campus not only as a place of higher learning, but also as their professional and educational home. We work hard to create an environment where employees' voices are heard. Our faculty and staff members understand the important role they play in our overall mission to serve students and the region."

Companies that are innovative and foster a collaborative workplace climate were most likely to make the list, according to organizers.

"UW-Whitewater inspires people to be their best. This honor shows that UW-Whitewater is a great place to learn and to work," Telfer said. "I am proud that so many of our faculty and staff members are lifelong learners. They set an important example for our students."
