UW-Whitewater hosts "Lumberjacks in Love" for summer laughs

July 15, 2013

The life of five lumberjacks is not an easy one. They don't bathe, don't want to get older, are afraid of women, and one of them is secretly a girl. And what happens when you throw in a mail-order bride? "Lumberjacks in Love," is the hilarious musical opening this week at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.

Directed by Jim Butchart, a theater professor, the musical is part of UW-Whitewater's Summeround theater program.

Student cast and crew members get keen insight and understanding of what it takes to put on a play. "The students design the costumes and the set," Butchart said. "It gives the students a chance to perform in a small setting and link with the audience."

The event will be performed at the Hicklin Studio Theater in the Greenhill Center of the Arts July 16-20 at 7:30 p.m., and July 21 at 2 p.m. Tickets are available at the Greenhill Center Box Office Monday-Friday 9:30 a.m.-4 p.m. or by phone at 262-472-2222.

Tickets are $12 for the general public, $10 for people over the age of 65, $7.50 for those under the age of 18, and $4.50 to UW-Whitewater students with a valid ID.
