Kudos to Soroush Aslani, associate professor of management, who is this year’s recipient of the Graduate Teaching Award. Students note that he uses vast knowledge and an innovative teaching style to give them comprehensive, real-world skill building that is applicable to today’s business world. They also cite his patient and dedicated mentorship abilities along with a clear commitment to student success. Congratulations to Dr. Aslani on this well-deserved achievement!
Kudos to UC Graphics and Marketing for winning in the social media campaign category for their Winterfest campaign at the 2023 NACA (National Association for Campus Activities) Conference in Saint Paul, Minnesota.
Kudos to Faith Jones, social work major, for receiving third place for her poster "Religion and Spirituality in Social Work" at the Association of Baccalaureate Social Work Program Directors annual conference in Birmingham, Alabama.
Kudos to Jo Ann Oravec, professor of information technology and supply chain management, who will present a paper online on Thursday, April 27, at the Memory, Affects, Emotions International Interdisciplinary Conference. Jazz concerts in Light Recital Hall
The Department of Music jazz ensembles perform in a variety of styles — from swing to funk to freely improvised music, including everything from the jazz greats to student compositions. Upcoming performances include the Jazz II ensemble at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 11, the Jazz Combos and Improvisers Orchestra at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 13, and the Jazz I ensemble at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, April 21. These events are free for students with their HawkCard.

Denim Day: The Jeans Alibi Doesn't Fly

The BFA Entry and Junior Review exhibition features works by art and design students. This display will be on view through Thursday, April 13. Gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Thursday, during scheduled exhibitions. The Crossman Gallery is always free and open to the public.

Stuffed Animal Beach Party Sleepover
The return of the Stuffed Animal Sleepover event is happening Friday, April 14 in the Anderson Library, 2nd floor. Session 1 is from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Session 2 is from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.. A child accompanied by UW-Whitewater students, staff, faculty and Children’s Center families brings their favorite stuffed animal for story time and craft, leaving their stuffed animal to spend the night at the library! Attend the CSD Award Ceremony
The Awards Ceremony hosted by the Chancellor's Office and the Center for Students with Disabilities is on Thursday, April 27. At this ceremony we will recognize Susan Johnson from the College of Letters and Sciences and Teresa Lind from the College of Arts and Communication for their excellence in disability advocacy and services. We will also award over $20,000 in scholarships!
