The Online Masters of Science in Education (MSE) in Elementary Middle Education program represents an engaging pathway for passionate professionals who have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college and are seeking K-9 teacher licensure. Delivered in an asynchronous format, this program is designed with students in mind, allowing more time to engage with the curriculum at their own pace. This transformative K-9 teacher licensure program is ideal for students who need flexibility as they navigate their complex personal and professional lives. This program welcomes diverse learners -from post-baccalaureate students exploring a career transition to in-service teachers pursuing additional licensure.
This new program is designed to meet all Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) requirements for K-9 teacher licensure. Final DPI approval is pending. Applications are welcome at this time, and admission will be granted upon receiving DPI approval.

Online Master of Science in Education in Elementary Middle Education

The MSE in Elementary Middle Education is a 32-credit program that prepares candidates for licensure to teach math, English and language arts, science, and social studies grades K-9. This program can be started in the spring, summer or fall terms, and at a pace that works best for you. Full-time students can finish in as little as five semesters.
This Department of Public Instruction approved master program leads to initial licensure to teach grades 4K through 9 in Wisconsin. Individuals who hold a bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university may apply for admission to this program.

- ELEMMID 710: Advanced Strategies for Teaching Mathematics, 3 credits
- ELEMMID 715: Pre-Student Teaching Seminar, 1 credit
- ELEMMID 718: Social Studies and Fine Arts Integration In the Classroom, 3 credits
- ELEMMID 719: Student Teaching Seminar, 1 credit
- ELEMMID 722: Teaching Climate Change and Natural Resources, 1 credit
- ELEMMID 724: Advanced Strategies for Teaching Science, 3 credits
- ELEMMID 762: Introduction to Equity and Technology Integration, 3 credits
- ELEMMID 765: Theory and Practice of Working with Multilingual Students, 3 credits
- READING 764: Foundations Of Reading, 3 credits
- READING 765: Literacy Instruction and Assessment in the Elementary/Middle Grades, 3 credits
- SPECED 760: Disabilities: Characteristics & Eligibility for Special Education, 3 credits
- CIFLD 726: Pre-Student Teaching, Elementary and Middle Levels, 1 credit
- CIFLD 727: Student Teaching, Elementary and Middle Levels, 4 credits

To qualify for admission to the online master’s program, you must meet graduate admission criteria.

Graduate students can purchase textbooks and other instructional materials through the University Bookstore or elsewhere online. Students should verify what materials are needed with their instructor.
Financial aid
Students completing a degree program may be eligible for financial aid in the form of grants, loans, scholarships, or employment. All of these make up a “Financial Aid Package” and may be offered singly or in various combinations. Since funds are limited, priority for aid is based on financial need and how promptly applications are filed.
