Best in the nation: UW-Whitewater student org that focuses on mental health wins Chapter of the Year
UW-Whitewater's Active Minds has won Chapter of the Year! This award is well-deserved, as efforts from this group can be seen across campus and throughout the City of Whitewater. In addition to self-care and mental health activities, this group has brought awareness projects to campus, organized walks, events, and guest speakers, and planted more than 3,000 yellow tulips to represent hope. The UW-Whitewater chapter was chosen among 600 other chapters across the United States.
Active Minds, a national student organization that empowers young adults to speak openly about mental health, encourages people to seek help and to prevent suicide — the second leading cause of death in this population.
