Sharing expertise at the State Capitol
Lana Collet-Klingenberg, interim dean of the Colleges of Education and Professional Studies, provided testimony to the members of the Senate Committee on Universities and Revenue in support of Senate Bill 241 related to loan forgiveness for school psychology completers — those in school counseling and school social work would also qualify — who go on to work in specific urban or rural schools.

Kudos to Sasha Karnes, associate professor of psychology, who presented “Stress, Productivity, and Health Behaviors Among College Students: 2021-2022” at the 2023 Annual Meeting of the Midwestern Psychological Association in Chicago.
Kudos to Sasha Karnes, associate professor of psychology, and Carolyn Morgan, professor of psychology, who each completed their UW-Whitewater 2022-2023 Incorporating Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in Academic Affairs (IDEIAA) grant for their work in teaching Psychology of Personality (PSYCH 304) and Psychology of Emotion and Motivation (PSYCH 407), respectively.
Kudos to Chris Neddenriep, professor of psychology, who presented “Passing the Torch” at the spring 2023 conference of the Wisconsin School Psychologists Association in Elkhart Lake. She also presented “Behavior Help for Early Childhood Teachers: Helping Young Children Thrive” and “Solving the Shortage in Wisconsin: Different Paths, One Vision” at the 2023 Annual Meeting of the National Association of School Psychologists in Denver.

Ravneet Kaur, computer science graduate student and graduate assistant in the LTC, won the Greater Madison Chamber of Commerce's annual Pressure Chamber startup competition on Aug. 22 with her husband. Their company, Child Health Imprints, brings new technology to neonatal intensive care units using artificial intelligence and machine learning to predict diseases based on data patterns.

WATER at the Crossman Gallery
Water is as ubiquitous as it is important to all life on Earth. Delving beneath the surface, this exhibition explores some of the stories water has to tell through art. The exhibition also combines art and science by featuring posters about some of the water-related research conducted by UW-Whitewater faculty and their students.

Please submit your work for consideration to this year’s Juried Student Art Exhibition at the Crossman Gallery. Applications due Sept. 18! Artwork will be selected by a regional artist, who will also determine the prize winners: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places, media-specific awards, and honorable mentions. Awards will be announced at the reception in the Crossman Gallery on Thursday, Oct. 19.

The Warhawk Pantry, located in Drumlin Dining Hall, room 143, provides a respectful, safe, and inclusive environment for students and others to obtain food, toiletries, school supplies, and information about other resources available to them. A little free pantry is accessible 24/7 as well.

Free spaghetti meals
All are welcome! Free to-go spaghetti meals are offered 5-6 p.m. every Monday except Dec. 25 at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Whitewater. You may pick up the meal at the 133 S. Franklin Street entrance. If you need more than one meal to get you through the week, you are welcome to take more.
Each meal contains:
- 1 pound cooked spaghetti
- 2 italian meatballs
- Choice of 1/2 cup of marinara sauce or 1/2 cup of alfredo sauce
- 1 tablespoon Parmesan cheese
- Italian seasoning

The Community Space
The Community Space, located at 834 E. Milwaukee Street in Whitewater, Wisconsin, provides food, clothing, furniture and more. Hours are Tuesdays, 8:30-11 a.m., Wednesdays 3:30-7 p.m. and Saturdays 8:30 a.m. to noon. All are welcome.
