Faculty/staff role updates
Beth John, director of First Year Experience, is transitioning into a new role at UW-Whitewater beginning May 21. Beth’s last day within FYE is May 11, and she will be transitioning into the director of educational outreach within the Center for Inclusive Transition, Education and Employment (CITEE). “I’m excited to welcome Dr. Beth John as CITEE’s director of educational outreach. Beth’s expertise and passion in fostering student development and her existing partnerships across our campus will continue in her role with CITEE, where she will lead grant programming related to inclusive education and employment. This role contributes to CITEE’s efforts to embody UW-Whitewater’s mission to serve students with disabilities, foster inclusive education, and to embrace the Wisconsin Idea,” said Jess Smith, co-founder and director of CITEE.
Marie Hornickel has agreed to serve as the interim director of First Year Experience effective May 1. “We will greatly miss Beth and her leadership, but I fully trust Marie will do fantastic leading and guiding the FYE team. As we continue to work with the FYE team on these transitions, we will be sure to communicate as these shifts are made,” said Jackie Briggs, assistant vice chancellor for enrollment and retention.
