DanceScapes '20
UW-Whitewater's Department of Theatre and Dance gave a private performance of DanceScapes '20 for cast and crew before the COVID-19 situation prevented this year's concert. An annual spring tradition, DanceScapes gives students and faculty the opportunity to play and experiment with the possibilities of what dance can be. The choreographers were mentored by Professor Barbara Grubel and Inclusive Excellence Fellow Alfonso Cervera.

UW-Whitewater cuts application fee in half, makes it easier to apply for admission
In response to the extraordinary circumstances facing students during the COVID-19 pandemic, UW-Whitewater, in collaboration with the UW System, is taking action to make it easier for prospective Warhawks to apply for admission.
“At UW-Whitewater, we’re doing everything we can to make the admission process easy and seamless. We know this is an incredibly stressful and confusing time for students and their families. While prospective students are doing their duty by staying at home right now, they are also thinking about their future – including their college options,” said Matt Aschenbrener, associate vice chancellor for enrollment and retention.

Kudos to the UW-Whitewater chapter of Beta Alpha Psi, which won first place in the Impact category of the Midwest Regional Meeting Best Practice Competition, held on March 19, 2020. With the help of CoBE Tech, accounting students Tara Liegel, Cami Malizio, Cameron Stluka and Matt Tarrant presented their submission virtually. This win earns the team a place at the national competition, to be held at the Beta Alpha Psi Annual Meeting currently scheduled for Aug. 6-8 in Orlando.
Kudos to Jo Ann Oravec, professor of information technology and supply chain management, who had a chapter accepted for the book “Historic Instructional Design Cases: ID Knowledge in Context and Practice” to be published by Routledge. The chapter is titled "Experts in a Box? Expert Systems and Knowledge-Based Engineering (1984-1991)."
Kudos to Michael Hammer, associate professor of communication sciences and disorders, who was invited by the National Institutes of Health to serve as the study section chair for the Communication Disorders Review Committee for the National Institute on Deafness and other Communication Disorders.
