This can be accomplished through a variety of efforts and labor market information sources: workshops, software programs, Internet sites, occupational videos, books, job shadowing, and counseling.
- Obtain information about majors offered at UWW
- Research occupational information
- Gain an understanding of wages and employment trends
- Conduct informational interviews
- Job Shadow
- Enroll in COUNSED 490, "Life, Work, and Career Planning"
Action Plan - how do i get there?
This process includes zeroing in on jobs/positions that are of interest and writing action plans outlining the steps necessary for careers in the chosen fields.
- Identify and develop a degree plan of study with your academic advisor
- Take an introductory class or practicum in your major of interest
- Interview a faculty member or Department Chair in your major of interest
- Share major/career interests and research with friends and family
- Join a student organization in an area or major of interest. Stop into the Warhawk Involvement Center to develop an Involvement Plan with a Leadership Assistant
- Explore interest through service/volunteer/internship opportunities
- Network with employers, alumni, family and friends
- Attend a Job Fair to build awareness and support decision making
- Meet with a Career Counselor
