Use of accessible parking spaces is restricted to vehicles with DIS (disabled) plates, DIS VET plates, or an ID card issued by the Wisconsin (or other state) Department of Transportation. A paid UW-W permit is also required on vehicles operated by/for UW-Whitewater students, faculty, and staff.
Wisconsin statutes that exempt vehicles from paying meter fees apply to municipalities and are not applicable on the UW-Whitewater campus.
On the UW-Whitewater campus, vehicles with DIS plates or an ID card along with a valid UW-Whitewater parking permit may be parked in disabled parking spaces, any non-restricted space, or up to 4 hours at any pay by space parking stall with no fee required.
Temporary disabled parking permits may be issued to persons with a physician's statement for short-term needs, not to exceed 30 days. The cost of a temporary disabled parking permit is $20 per week, unless another valid UW-Whitewater permit is currently held, in which case there is no additional cost.
