Counselor Education

Brenda Rust O'Beirne

Clinical Interests

My clinical work has been largely focused on emerging adults. I also have a special interest in working with the elderly. While I enjoy individual counseling interventions, group process is really my passion. My service agenda is important to me and I dedicate time and energy to children and adolescents in my work with Optimists International and I invest in service to the elderly through the UWW Nursing Home Visitation Program. From an early age, it was important to me to advocate for those who often don’t have a voice - this definitely includes children and elders.

About Me

Family and friends are an important part of my life beyond school! Living on a small horse farm, I have the opportunity to have many different kinds of work in my life! I enjoy the outdoors, long walks on sunny days, baking, swimming, and almost anything that encourages learning by doing. I am a voracious reader, usually while on my treadmill or exercise bike! As mentioned earlier, I am also active with volunteer work. Time spent with my husband Cliff is most precious to me!
