Hello!
  • 2015 Doctor of Education - Walden University
  • 2008 Master of Education - Carroll University
  • 2005 Bachelor of Arts - Ottawa University
  • 1994 - Associate of Arts - Western Kentucky University
My passion for education runs deep, more than 20+ years experience across multiple levels. My focus has been on adult and continuing education in addition to curriculum and instruction design. In another life, I worked as a consultant for Kentucky Department of Education, where I collaborated to influence state policy, conduct regional training and perform walkthroughs and audits for schools/districts to improve culturally responsive teaching and multicultural curriculum practices. Before that, I worked on the university level for several colleges where I taught first year writing seminars to help students cultivate critical thinking through education, liberal arts, humanities, including global issues and academic success.
Most recently, I participated in a study abroad program where I explored the culture, community, religion, geopolitics and education of Senegal with a group of American college students from Western Kentucky University. We collaborated with international student scholars to better understand the deep roots of the African Diaspora and its impact on Western culture.
I’ve lived in Texas, Hawaii, Washington, DC and Wisconsin. Meanwhile, I am a native of Kentucky (where I currently reside). And although my rural upbringing was not ideal, it was good. The values instilled by my great-grandparents provide breadth and depth to all of my teachings. If you would like to learn more about my story, I invite you to visit my personal website.
