Make your year-end gift to support UW-Whitewater students!
As we look back on this year at UW-Whitewater, we’re celebrating the impact of our “Our Stories, Our Future” Campaign and the many ways it strengthens student opportunity and our university’s next chapter. Every gift tells a story: Your Story — and your support is deeply valued. As year-end approaches, we want to help you make the most of your philanthropy for both the causes you care about and your financial goals. If you have already given this year, we are truly grateful. If you are still considering a year-end gift, we hope the information below supports your planning. Thank you for being a part of our collective Warhawk story.
Why Giving before Year-End Matters
Gifts made by Dec. 31 may qualify for 2025 tax benefits and can support your personal tax and financial planning.
IRA Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs)
For donors age 70½ or older, up to $108,000 may be transferred directly from an IRA to a qualified nonprofit. QCDs can satisfy Required Minimum Distributions beginning at age 73 (age 75 for those born in 1960 or later) and are excluded from taxable income.
Gifts of Appreciated Securities
Gifts of appreciated assets held more than one year may avoid capital gains tax and allow a deduction for full fair market value. The UW-Whitewater Foundation can accept securities tax-free, increasing your gift’s impact.
Other Giving Considerations
Cash gifts are generally deductible up to 60% of adjusted gross income (AGI), while non-cash gifts such as securities or property may have lower limits (often 20–30%). Always ensure gifts are made to a qualified 501(c)(3) organization.
Plan Your Gift Today!
Consult your financial or tax advisor to determine the most effective strategy. IRA transfers may be directed to the UW-Whitewater Foundation, Inc. For stock gifts, contact us at foundation@uww.edu or visit uww.edu/foundation/how-to-give.
Find out if you can double (or triple!) your gift to UW-Whitewater through a matching gift from your employer.
Visit uww.edu/foundation/how-to-give/matching-gifts to see if your employer will match your donation.
Thank you for supporting tomorrow’s Warhawks and shaping the next chapter of their stories. Your generosity opens doors, enriches learning, and strengthens our university. By giving before year-end, you’re making a difference for yourself and our Warhawk Family.
