About
The Children's Center offers early childhood education and care for children from ages 3 months up to 5 years old year round and full day. We offer school age care throughout the summer months for children who just finished up kindergarten through 11 years old.
The UW-W Children's Center mission is to transform lives by providing a learner-centered, collaborative early care and educational environment that embodies best practice for young children, their families, educators and pre-service teachers through a Reggio-Emilia inspired practice.
The Children's Center philosophy is that we believe every member of our community is welcome to learn and grow in an environment where they feel safe, respected, and empowered to gain knowledge and become independent unique individuals.
Our Philosophy
At the Children’s Center, we believe that children learn best through relationships, play, and meaningful experiences. We view each child as capable, curious, and full of potential. Our role is to provide a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment where children feel a strong sense of belonging and are supported socially, emotionally, physically, and cognitively.
We value developmentally appropriate, Reggio inspired, play-based learning, strong partnerships with families, and reflective teaching practices. As a campus-based program, we are also committed to supporting student parents, educating future professionals, and contributing to the university community.
Our Mission
Our mission is to provide high-quality, accredited early care and education that supports the growth and well-being of children while strengthening families and the campus community. We are dedicated to fostering lifelong learners, modeling best practices in early childhood education, and serving as a resource for teaching and learning.
Our Vision
